Giving up your IS may well trigger the DWP into wanting to understand how you're going to support yourself going forwards.
We're ALL made to "feel" like scroungers - we claim benefits, don't we? Thanks to certain media hype and frenzy, every single claimant is a scrounger.
Just rise above it, and the feelings. Think of how much your father's care would cost if you didn't do it and then sit back, smug in the knowledge that, far from TAKING money from the Government (and thus being a genuine 'scrounger') you're actually helping keep money in the Government coffers.
IS is designed to "top up" your Carers allowance to the minimum that "the law" says you need to live on. Why knowingly, and willingly, put your income level at under the subsistence level that the law provides, when you're doing such a valuable job?
To re-iterate - definitely, definitely, do not give up the IS. There is no reason to and the WFI you've been invited to is nothing more than a 'box ticking' exercise for the JC so they can report to the Government that they've "seen" all jobseekers over a period of time.PLEASE NOTE:

No, you're not, BUT you're ENTITLED to claim I.S. because you are performing a vital role for someone who is vulnerable and who has already been assessed (by a Government Department) as being in need of assistance.
This is your ENTITLEMENT - your 'right' if you will, to recognise the work that you do for your vulnerable father.PLEASE NOTE:

My daughter is my full-time carer and has to attend on of these once every six months. She is there no more than 30 mins and she said the advisors are lovely.
Losing £160 a month would surely be a big hit in your pocket ? Any genuine claimant could not afford to lose that amount .0
