Hi there
I'm not certain if this is the correct place for this but I was not sure where else to share/vent this very frustrating situation
myself and friend went out 2 nights ago I stopped off at a petrol station and put about £20.00 of fuel in I paid with my car and went off on my way.
Our party enjoyed our evening upon my return journey I was stopped by the police on the motorway, they a requested that I follow them to the next service station which I complied with
Once that shock was dealt with they advised that I had been stopped as there had been a compliant that I had driving off without paying for fuel. I denied this emphatically and eventually let me know advised that I should try to resolve this with garage. I argued that it was resolved as I had paid
I went to garage demanded to see footage I got a statement from bank. My self and deputy manager went over the allegation against the evidence. they conceded that I had paid and their cashier had made a mistake, he did apologise
I want to know what/how I should inform BP of their staffs poor attention to detail. It was as you could imagine upsetting and embarrassing to under the scrutiny of the police and to find out that my 'accuser' got it totally wrong. I want to ensure that my reg details are not circulated as a 'marked' suspicious car. I also want to be sure that the service acknowledge that they have an obligation and duty to ensure accurate recording of these circumstances as the upset, frustration and embarrassment caused
I would be grateful for any help tips
Thanks all

Suitable compensation would be a free tanker full of fuel, plus 4 crystal tumblers.0

BP will not get involved in the minutiae of micromanaging a petrol stationThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

A mistake that resulted in the OP being pulled over by the police, having to go out of their way to follow the police to the motorway services then needing them to return to the garage to sort the problem out.
Unless the staff in the garage contacted the police again to inform them that an error had been made, there is a possibility that the OP's car details are still on record somewhere for driving off without paying.
If I was reported for a crime that I didn't commit because someone wasn't doing their job properly (I've done seasonal work in a petrol station and matching non payers to vehicles is easy to do), I would certainly follow it up to make sure that the staff concerned were made fully aware of what can happen due to their error.0 -
A friend runs a petrol station and if someone leaves without paying. The rule is give 2 days before the police will even look at the recording and pay a call.0

Get a letter from BP cleaning you and then send it to the police to confirm they have removed your details from ANPR0
