That's read helpful thank you Archi. I have around 12 dd's set up on our bill account. I was just going to switch them all from nationwide to Halifax. How would i go about switching in order to get 2 halifax accounts? Would i need to open another nationwide account first and transfer some dd's over? Sorry, just struggling to get my head around the easiest way of doing it but maximising our benefits.

I've been online and upgraded our everyday Flex Account to Flexdirect so that's one done!

You'd need a 'donor' account for each switch you want to make. If you don't have any spare ones, set some up. Nationwide allow you up to 4 current accounts. But remember you can only switch from sole to sole, or from joint to joint.

There is no requirement in the Halifax switching terms for DDs. Thus you can switch accounts that do not have any DDs.

You do need 2 monthly paying DDs for the monthly fivers. As already mentioned, the easiest is to set up extra DDs for this specific purpose, using Tesco savings accounts that pull £1 a month from each of your Halifax accounts. You can then keep all your other DDs together in one place. I take it you are aware of the Santander cashback for certain DDs?
