2011/2012 was when the market crashed again. I wouldn't be surprised if he lumped all the money into something then. Market has outperformed since then. I'm not here to give investment advice as it's illegal but have a look at Euro Stoxx.0 -
I cant see why people are so hell bend on pushing for evidence of things..
At the end of the day, if it is all lies, then he is only lying to himself,, same as the person who you said fed themselves and 2 dogs for a month on £50..
I could say that if I had bulked on food the month before, so technically I wouldn't be lying if I had only spend £50 that month..
Anyway... I take these threads as inspirational and ways of making me think of way I can make/save extra money, as each person is different, and spread betting or whatever its called is not for me, as I cant get my head around it.. ( haven't looked into it properly)
but yet I can sniff out a hidden gem in a farm auction.. which looks like a pile of crap to a lot of people lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -

I also forgot to add. My pension contribution currently stands at £1052.70. I genuinely forgot about this. My employer matches my contribution so it amounts to about £140 a month in total. Given recent legislation, I think the Government has enforced that all companies (public/private) provide matched contribution to their employees. If you haven't got one, make the most of it!0

chronicsaver wrote: »Happy Saturday Cooltrickerchick and Thanks. Just to reiterate, as much as this thread is about me trying to reach my target, it's also about me giving ideas to others on how to make extra savings for themselves! Heck, that's what this site is all about!
totally agree, its all about giving ideas, incentives and inspiration to get yourself motivated to achieve something yourself..
what works for one person may not work for someone else..
I remember collecting Alu cans, took me ages to get a load, and then only made a few quid, a lot of people said it wasn't worth the hassle etc, but to me it was, as at the end of the day it was a few quid I wouldn't have had..
over the years I have made a few hundred quid just collecting and saving cans ( and empty steel tins re baked beans etc).. have stopped, but will be going back to doing it again...
at the moment I am sowing and planting stuff, so I can sell the surplus produce either to independent greengrocers or at markets etc.. its not going to be loads, BUT.. its a few quid..
all the little things add up, so anyone who wants to save/make money will never dismiss anything..Work to live= not live to work0 -

Tutoring (2 hours a week) - £60
Stocks and Shares ISA - £10 (unrealised)
Matched betting - £65 (didn't really do arbs this week)
Work income - £250 (I save £1000 a month from my income)
Cashback - £45 (unrealised)
Total: £430
Pretty disappointing but you'll have those once in a while!
Don't forget to check my blog. Link above!
think your maths are a bit off on the total?
how did you feel losing £425 on gambling? Ive dabbled in the past and won some big money. Following a big win i put £100 on a football match, just one games results... It was a "sure thing" and i lost. I felt a bit sick to be honest. Every season i put an accumulator on the winners of each division, but other than that i don't bother with gambling any more.
slow and steady wins the race!0 -
