Consider the advantages of being able to pop in to a local solicitors either
* to sign stuff same day
* to get face-to-face explanations of things you don't understand
* to complain if things go pear shaped
When comparing quotes, look carefully for hidden extars. Most decent High street soliciors give an all-inclusive price.
many online agents appear to offer cheap prices, but have hidden 'extras' in the small print.

To anyone considering Convey Law, please avoid.
They're dreadful. A straighforward purchase has gone slowly, all other parties are speechless, we're liaising between estate agent to vendor solicitor to get anything done, they don't respond, they insist that every instruction is by email but only respond to tell you they're not ready to speak to you.
Frightening - not sure whether they're real conveyancers as they blatantly missed a vital piece of information on an leasehold purchase which I identified only through experience. They're not transparent - they've delayed for over a week when I have asked for an indication of my bill.
They want to make me take an indemnity policy when it's the vendor's responsibility but they refuse the vendor's policy at half the price (the vendor's solicitor is the most reputable in our town!)
I'd hate to see anyone fall victim to these people. They try to get the receptionists to deal with you everytime if they can.
Frightening to be held to ransom almost. They're also great at telling you exactly how they're in the right. I would like Watchdog to investigate.0 -
There are some good online conveyancers out there and it sounds like convey law isn't one of them.0

On the flip side of the above I used Convey Law and was impressed with the service. Always picked up the phone, replied to emails, and were very quick.
I would recommend asking for Geraint Aubrey's team.Along with the Paralegal Bethany they managed to get my property through from offer to completion in 2 months 28 days.0 -
Beware of negative feedback received from users posting their first post! Could just be a competitor.
I used Fidler and Pepper about 4 years ago, and had a good experience with them, always very responsive. It could have changed now0
