It is a magnet on the top of the door with a reed switch in the plastic top trim. This is not a simple switch controls the light, the little computer brain switches the light on an off.

lol a computer brain, talk about over complicating the matter. its the same as a normal switch but uses a magnet to open and shut the contacts.
  • where in the door is the magnet or is it the door seal magnet that control's it ?

It is not quite a simple reed switch to bulb circuit. If the door is left open too long the circuit flashes the light on and off so some electronics involved, the interior lamp is also part of the diagnostic signalling.

The switch is in the plastic control panel and the magnet is in the door top trim.
  • Thanks for your replies i have checked the magnet it is there, while i was checking it i had the door open and the buzzer sounded then went off when i shut the door, so i would assume the switch is ok, im going to call the shop i got it from and they will have to fix it.

They'll only have to fix it FOC it if they confirmed that it was in perfect working order before you bought it. Otherwise you bought a secondhand appliance presumably without warranty, condition as seen.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
