Which account gives you 3% interest . Don't think I could be bothered with a load of hassle

You realise you have asked the guy who posted copious misinformation throughout the thread?

    And call others idiots?

    I rest my case.

Before slagging off too many people, go back and read some other replies again.

4 and 5% are possible, and without the bank charges or glacial transfer speeds that one person on this thread invented.

Santander - sorry .. Current accounts aren't my thing (as you've noticed)

Yet you don't have the good sense to keep your opinion on subjects you don't have a clue about to yourself...

That information has already been shared in this thread. I'd be more helpful, but as you've decided to start calling people idiots I'll see if you're capable of finding it for yourself.

exactly what other than current accounts would be most appropriate in your view for someone who is going to spend their money over the next few months?

I was agreeing with the general principle - i think there are other options depending on the level of risk. Otherwise, there are a host of "no maintenance" approaches.

lets face it - its only 12k, and its only a few months - even if the op puts it in a tesco bag under the bed, he / she is only missing out on a few quid!

    Unless it gets nicked!

Putting it into anything that doesn't offer full FSCS protection just seems crazy when it is a known amount required and like you say the difference between a protected and non protected option is only a few quid.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Santander 123 account is actually only 3% on balances BETWEEN £3k and £20k

They pay 3% on your entire balance if the balance is between £3000 and £20,000.

The terms are confusing for balances over £20,000:

No interest is earned when your balance is below £1,000 or over £20,000. We work out interest on your daily balance on the first £20,000 only and pay interest every month.

My guess is that the 3% still applies to the first £20,000 even if you have £20,001 but that is not what the first sentence in the quote above says.

I stand corrected, Thanks for clearing that up!
