Skincare - I tend to stick with Tropic Skincare cleanser (doubles as makeup remover), Botanics toner (in the spray - so easy and saves on cotton wool), and Ponds face cream (currently trying the Body shop vit C cream but it's so expensive! £13!). Palmers cocoa butter for everything else.
Hair - I have to be careful, and I'm in the process of trying different products and whittling it down. I have scalp issues, and have no choice but to use nizoral every once in a while to clear it up but it's £8 for 100ml !!!
Makeup, I'm fussy with but it lasts so long. I prefer L'oreal mascaras which are under a tenner. I also prefer Rimmel nail polish to any other - will never buy an essie or opi polish ever again, they've all been dire. My eyeliner is super duper cheap, less than a pound, and bought abroad in the middle east. I'd rather get a blusher or powder that is the ideal shade and type (ie not glittery!) and pay a bit more than buy stuff I won't really use because I don't like it much. I have the luxury of being able to do that though at the moment.
Did you know Boots sells a generic version of Nizoral with exactly the same amount of ketoconazole in it?0 -
I don't do skincare- I know I should but I dont. Just splash my face with water. If I've worn makeup (rare) I take it off with baby wipes- not fussed which, at the moment I have Sainsburys own but it's usually Boots or Asda own brand so fairly cheap.
Hair- I have all manner of expensive products that mum (bless her) buys for me in a vain attempt to cure my alopecia but she forgets I also have psoriasis of the scalp as well as alopecia so I stick to Johnson's Baby Shampoo. I don't use product as I have very little hair to use it on (current cut is a number five- I keep it that short so it grows back evenly) so that's quite cheap. I have one bottle in my home shower and one in my gym bag.
Deodorant is usually one of the Nivea or Dove range- that's one thing I wont skimp on as cheap deodorant brings me out in horrific psoriasis. I also wear body sprays- Lynx Attract for women is my fave but I tend to get a load of sets bought for me at Xmas with the shower gel so I try to make that last as long as possible as it's expensive. Ditto with my favourite perfume- Viva La Juicy. I can't afford it myself so I only use it when it gets bought for me
Make up- my make up bag is a weird mixture of stuff. Mum again buys me really expensive stuff but I prefer cheap stuff from Superdrug- my foundation is Avon and used very sparingly as it's about a tenner a bottle  which is a lot to me. I use Miss Sporty concealer and powder- although it might be cheap it's excellent and doesn't irritate my skin; my eyeshadow, waterproof mascara and lipstain cost about a fiver in total from Superdrug (and I got the mascara free coz I spent over a fiver :rotfl:
I don't really do a beauty routine- I can't afford it so yes it's quite MSE*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
I wash my face in the shower (not with soap) and then I use either my Lidl face cream (for "demanding" skin lol!) or my Aldi serum, both of which are fabulous and neither of which make my face itch, unlike L'Oreal, Garnier etc.
I use a Superdrug vitamin E eye cream when I can be bothered.
I also like Dove stick deodorant, it dries really quickly and leaves my armpits really soft.
I don't wear much make-up but I do like the MUA range or Rimmel especially for blushers. I wear clear mascara which I buy in Morrisons for around £2-3, I don't get on with black mascara, I always end up looking like a panda, or else I can't get it off and end up with itchy eyes when using make-up remover. I did splash out on 3 Laura Geller lipsticks from QVC last year (£25 ) but I can't say that they're any better than my cheaper ones.
I use an olive oil cream as a body moisturiser, I used to buy one from Avon but I found a face cream in Lidl which is lovely and is cheap enough to use on my legs etc.Botox - an absolute must, £250 every 4 months"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -

This made me laugh....although I'm assuming it's for the poster's face and not for any medical reason?
Yes its for my face and not medical, pure vanity0 -
And if you can afford it, why not?

For me I think I'm a bit MSE, I try to buy my products on offer.
Morning/Evening:
Simple face wipes - Usually get when on offer. I'm too lazy to have a proper cleanser!
Exfoliator (not every morning) - usually whatever's on offer, but it has been Clean and Clear, so only a few quid.
Moisturise - Olay Multiradiance. I usually pay about £6/7 when on offer or about £9/10 when not on offer.
Shower gel - Body Shop, usually stock up on Body Shop products with the 40 or 50% off voucher that does its rounds every year, as well as getting cashback through Quidco!
Body Moisturiser - Body Butters from Body Shop - only buy when on offer.
Hair:
Body Shop - almond anti frizz serum
Body Shop - Ginger Anti Dandruff shampoo - I had a horrible itchy scalp in 2008 and this was the only thing that got rid of it, have been using it ever since. Although I'm thinking about trying one of those shampoos designed to regrowing hair as mine is looking very thin.
Conditioner - changes, but currently it's Aussie as I used it on holiday in the travel bottles and it was amazing!
Make up:
Foundation - Boots Natural Collection £2 - cheap and it's the right shade for my very pale skin
mascara - the brand varies, usually costs around £7
Eye shadow - No7 - £10 for 3 colours (or thereabouts). Cheaper ones just don't last0 -
I don't really use anything expensive. I might if I thought it worked better than my current stuff, but this hasn't been the case so far. I have to keep away from anything with sulphates, so many products, including expensive ones are out for me anyway.
I wash every day with home made soap for my hair and body. I haven't yet found a soap recipe I like for my face however, so I use simple face wash, and a few times a week I oil cleanse (20% castor oil, 80% peanut oil). Peanut oil isn't a popular one, some people claim it gives them giant spots, but it seems to be perfect for me. Somehow, it seems to really clean out my pores.
Most days I also use refined avocado oil last thing before bed to avoid dry skin.
Every couple of days I trim my beard with clippers and shave the edges with Ingram shaving cream (cheap, but really the best I've tried) and a safety razor.
I've had clear skin and good hair since doing these things together, and yet it's simpler and cheaper than anything I've used in the past.0 -
I use a mix of cheap and expensive, but the expensive bits are usually bought on special offer or from ebay.
Skincare: Eye cream is Decleor - £35 for a little tube! But I love it. Serum and moisturisers are Lacura from Aldi - really cheap but fantastic. I also use Body Shop Vitamin E face mask as I have really dry skin. Lush exfoliating scrub.
Body: Lush Snow Fairy - I stock up at xmas. Body lotion is usually whatever is on offer but my favourite is Nivea So Soft.
Makeup: Mascara has to be Benefit They're Real, nothing else has ever come close. For foundation, I have tried the expensive ones - Dior, Clinique and Bare Minerals, but my favourite is cheapy Maybelline Dream Satin liquid.
Hair: Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! I also have a fantastic smoothing oil that I tested as part of a research panel, but they didn't tell us what brand it was so I can't replace it when it's gone0 -
I think I'm pretty good, considering. I use the Body Shop Aloe skincare and the shampoo and conditioner, which are frequently on offer. Other than that, I'm happy to try new products.
I do spend more on make up though. but they are Clinique, Nars, Mac, Bobbi Brown. My justification is that I don't use many products anyway and the Consultant will advise me so I'm less likely to buy the wrong products.
My tips to keep costs down:
Drinking water is free and although I don't drink enough of it, when I do, my skin is clearer.
Body brushing is a free (after you've bought the brush). It can help with cellulite.
I have a little facial brush, which I use instead of an exfoliator. It was £2.50 and I use it a couple of times a week.
Multi use products - I have a bottle of olive oil which I use in the bath, on the ends of my hair, on the soles of my feet.0 -
I spend a lot on my face and hair, but my face is the first thing people see so I look after it!
Most of my face products are Elemis, expensive, but they do last. I do use a line correcting filler from Avon before I moisturise which is very good.
Hair care is Kerastase which again is expensive, but makes my hair look lovely. I've tried cheaper versions and always return to my Kerastase.
Shower products are Molton Brown shower gels (pink pepper) and I use an all overall body scrub from the Body Shop.
My make up really does vary. I use a Rimmel primmer and a Christina Dior Star foundation with Avon and body shop pieces thrown in for good measure.
I do spend quite a lot looking after myself, but I don't go out, smoke or drink so I justify it quite easily!
I'm lucky that my husband is also a big Elemis fan and has all the products from their male range so no complaints from him about the costs!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:
