HP Deskjet 3050A All in One printer not printing

My black ink cartridge ran out, so I bought a remanufactured one off Ebay. I could not get this to print, and had error message saying it was empty or fake or something like that. I bought another one from Tesco, this time a refilled HP cartridge, had the same problem again.
I googled the problem and tried the suggestion of holding a damp paper towel on the film, and wiping it dry, this does not work. I cannot find the original installation disk, but manually cleaned the printer heads using the tools section on the printer. All that it happening is that I am using up my coloured ink cartridge!!
Can anyone suggest anything that would work?
Thanks

Sorry to ask again....
I am using Windows 8.1 (if that makes any difference), and have gone on to the HP AIO Remote, this was showing some black ink in one of the cartridges but still printed blank pages. The alignment page prints red, blue and grey.
Is it worth spending out on another new cartridge again?0 -
Hi, I have the same printer as you and use the same 8.1 operating system. I also experienced what you are experiencing and I only corrected the problem by using bona fide HP cartridges. Suggest you, in future do the same. Apparently refilled cartridges are not recognised by your printer.0
