We have just come back from our first ever trip abroad, visiting DD in Thailand. Naturally we have myriads of photo's and we would like to add some text to it so we can remember the details. I've tried google but have not found much of interest. two computers, win8.1 and XP.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Are you talking about an exif editor, or do you mean adding text to the actual photo images?0

Any image manipulation tool like paint.net will do this and more. The tricky bit will be finding something less powerful/complicated! You've probably already got something in your computer that'll do it that you never realised TBH - paint, maybe?0

What is an exif editor?
I would like to be able to add a note such as Laughing Buddha, Koh Samui as a reminder of the days out.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Doesn't the Photo Gallery software in Windows allow you to add comments to your pictures?
Or what about using File Explorer, isn't there a Title field in each photos properties you can easily edit?
If not then either something like Picasa, as mentioned or buy something like Photoshop ElementsOne by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
A lot of photo editors/organisers let you add a comment to the exif information embedded in a photograph. To my knowledge, both Irfanview and Faststone have this ability. Both are free and highly recommended, especially Faststone.
In the case of Faststone, you can add a comment to a selected picture by pressing T. The comment is not visible when viewing the picture until you move the cursor to the right hand side of the frame at which point the exif data is displayed with a separate tab for the comment.
This is a good way of annotating your photographs so as to preserve information you might otherwise forget.0 -
Could give GIMP a try, it's free. Best using GIMP on the W8.1 machine:
Read about it here:
