ipad + skype notification question please

Due to circumstances, I have installed various video messaging services on my ipad to to video links individually with a couple of family. We prefer to use skype, but there's something quite not right. Despite have my ipad on, by the side of me when using laptop, tow/three times I've been asked, why aren't you not answering the call?.

Something tell me I have yet to correct something in settings.

With the ipad power left on, after using it, until it drops into sleep mode after about 5 mins, the screen is visible, then it blackens. ( I note auto lock can be various lengths of time right up to never). Should I then wish to use it, I press a button, the keypad to enter code appears and then I'm off.

But it's in this sleep mode, (with darkened screen) that no audible or bubble notification appears. Yet if I have only just finished using the ipad and a skype call comes in,both bubble and sound notify me.

As I type, I'm wondering if the auto lock should be "never" and if that would make any difference. The aim of keeping the ipad usable, is due to the fact of time difference, (4 hrs), my 6am is 10am there, so I don't want to miss a call. But the fact that I'm not answering incoming is due to what.

I know some of you skype and presumably without a text to inform you of one such call coming in, you must be alerted from within the ipad. Perhaps you'd have a look at your settings and make a note of them and throw them my way.

The only thing I can add, is that I'm unsure if when registering skype, if one of those "do you wish to receive Push Notifications" options was presented and if it did, I would have declined as I don't know what they are or do.

I'm not entirely sure but I guess it could be for 2 reasons.

1) You turned off notifications. Go to Settings>Notifications>Scroll below to "DO NOT INCLUDE" and turn on notifications (including sounds, badge app icon and show on lock screen).

2) If this doesn't fix it then I guess you inadvertently turned on "Do not disturb." To turn this off, go to control centre (swipe up) and click on the crescent if it's lit.
