O/S Daily Saturday 28th February 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now getting light, looks dry underfoot.
DH and myself up and enjoying first peaceful cuppas of the day. Both DS’s still in their pits.
Dinner last night was an easy chicken and ham kievs, chips, beans/veg and salad for the menfolk. I had salmon en croute, jacket potato and veg. Today I have some southern fried chicken pieces in the fridge so they will form a part of a meal – we’ve got several jobs to do today, the first being we have to take the caravan to have some work done on it but engineer wants it there for 8.30am – had hoped for a bit of a lie-in!
Hester – your comment about looking to my posts for inspiration for dinners – made me smile as I feel our dinners are generally quite boring and we regularly seem to be stuck in a rut – eating the same meals weekly! I keep trying to find different recipes but that’s not always easy when you’re trying not to spend a fortune and need to cater for everyone’s different tastes.
Did get the main jobs done yesterday – both boys beds were stripped, bedding washed, dried and beds re-made. Ran the hoover over and did a couple more loads of washing which is all dried and put in its various homes. I really need to get into a routine of getting the housework done regularly – but my “get up and go” seems to have “got up and gone”. I think if I can just make a start – I’ll see the benefits and then this will lift my mood which yesterday has done a nosedive and I feel very low – but have had a few things rattling round my brain which I felt I’d settled – but they don’t just go away unfortunately. I will move forward from this just going to take it day by day.
Have great Saturdays’ everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning each and all. Yet another miserable day here but at least it's fine (at least for now!)
The Friday cleaning is yet again postponed to today and I hate having to clean on Saturdays! Got the DGDs off to school yesterday and despite just wanting to collapse I tidied round and made myself look presentable to meet my friend. We had a good old natter over a couple of coffees apiece and just got home in time to make lunch. Mr TA was kicking the table leg!
In the afternoon I tackled a job I have been putting off for weeks. Emptied my big computer cupboard/desk in the dining area! The pc so SLOW it was past workable so that and it's accessories are all in the garage to be scrapped (apart from the monitor which is going to one of the DGDs). The printer/scanner and hub now rehoused. That just left all the paperwork inside. I didn't know where to start so decided to be ruthless and most of it has gone in the shredding or recycling. The banking stuff sorted and hidden in the sideboard. That just left all my family history folders and research which has now gone into an ottoman thingy to replace the desk. I am so pleased with myself as it looks so much tidier in that back alcove now.
This weekends meals will be comprised mostly of stuff in the fridge so there is nothing to throw when we leave for our break on Monday morning. There may be some interesting concoctions getting thrown together!

Were the boys that bad?!
Morning All
A bit grey and breezy but it could brighten up. Everytime I say it's not raining it starts and then forgets to stop! Yesterday actually turned into quite a nice day, if I had been at home I would have put the washing out. May try that today as I have my bedding in the machine. DW on and having a think about tea!
Hope the poorlies are feeling better, last day of Feb so hopefully it will be spring tomorrow? Really looking forward to some better weather.
Have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning
Woops! have made a hasty correction to that post, fingers moving too fast on the keyboard! Don't think I could manage to do that now, they're both so much bigger than me - they take great pleasure in calling me "shorty"!

Spoilsport! It gave me a bit of a chuckle to think of you stripping them!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All,
Hope everyones well.
DH working until 12 then he has planned to get the chainsaw out to cut logs for the woodburner.
I am planning on my usual Saturday list of chores, doing a bit of crochet and maybe a bit of baking.
I also have to nurse my headcold.
Have a great day everyone

Morning all
I hoped for a lie in this morning but I was awake just after 5, the DW & WM are both on their 2nd cycle, the washing will go on the maiden as it's raining here.
nmlc, our diet is very restricted as hubby is a very fussy eater & I'm supposed to be on a diet, see below. But I see what you are cooking & think, 'Oh yes, we haven't had that for a while'.
Hubby has to work for a couple of hours this afternoon as his line manager has accepted a booking for every Saturday afternoon & his 2 colleagues don't want the overtime despite both constantly moaning they are skint.
I have my appointment from the hospital through for having needles stuck in my eye, wibble wibble! I also have a Dr's appointment on Monday to discuss how I'm doing on my 'No carbs, No fat, No sugar, No salt & No alcohol' diet. Very badly is the answer, I'm getting fed up with eating spinach & chicken with no flavouring etc.
Enough of my moaning, time I got back to the chores.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Hester, I'm not surprised you're fed up, anyone would be on that diet.
I finally told the powers that be at work that I was no longer going in on Monday. I didn't have a contract so I just stopped, the feeling of relief was very great.
Apart from that the only thing I have been doing this week is sewing and a bit of kondoing and the house is going a bit downhill, so I must get on.
I've been going round charity shops looking for old fashioned crocheted doilies for DD's wedding. We want to dye them and sew them together to make table runners. I'm glad it's a while before the wedding!

Morning everyone.
Looking outside the clouds are low, I fear there's bad weather coming.
Yesterdsy I did get the kitchen and utility room floors cleaned up. And I'm glad I did as some friends dropped round. Todsy I will do some light dusting as the TV screen is rather covered in it, the woodburner sends it out I'm sure. I will also clean out some ash from the stove as it's rather high. Need to leave some ash at the bottom so I use a separate vacuum cleaner for that job.
Don't need any shopping though a trip to the recycling centre wouldn't go amiss.
Going to play with the camera, there are large amounts of snowdrops poking their lovely little flower heads above the ground just begging to have their photos taken. Only triouble is my poorly knee means I can't bend it to crouch, will have to improvise.
Happy Saturday to everyone, and goodbye to February.0 -
Morning, ((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
I dosed myself up with painkillers and had a reasonable night sleep, my ankle is swollen around the ankle bone and it is a becoming shade of greeny blue, I can weight bear ok, so foot up a stool all day. Wonderful way to spend my wedding anniversary. Good job we had not planned on doing anything special. We are going out for a carvery lunch tomorrow.
Very grey and overcast today, the forecast was for rain all day, and it certainly looks like it might rain. Glad I got the washing dry yesterday.0
