Im a part time working single mum of two school age kids. Long story short, Im also setting u m own business which is going well. Im no getting any finanical hep with this incase it counts.
Basically with hubby having passed away, i went back to work as soon as youngest in school a few years ago now. when youngest was a certain age i was put on JSA. My problem is as I work I get £26 a month. While every penny helps, for the grief and stress I get in thre I'd rather not have it if Im honest!
All Im told every sign on day is, get full time job and we'll organise childcare. Yea i did that and they helped in no way, I had to lose the job before I even had it as I only have my mother family wise and se has MS so cannot mind the kids while i work.
ANYWAY.....the plan with hubby before he passed away was always we'd share the school runs etc as we had good jobs!
Now however is a completely different story.
The jobcentre offers no help, i found out about New entreprise allowance and asked for it, they said i needed to attend group session. PROBLEM was is was during my work hours so i was told to take a day off to go. not an option. I only get paid for days im at work, i dont get sick or holidays as i work term time to look after kids!
So I get housing benefit (this is low income based not JSA based if that counts? As i was getting this before I claimed JSA while working part time due to having savings at time I didnt qualify for JSA. I also get Council tax reduction benefit, child benefit, the JSA and my wage. no savings left.
Im wondering ifI'll auto matically lose any benefits, as while i can afford to lose £26 a month - I can afford a penny more than that as the rent here is unreal ( I dont get full housing benefit).
Anyone got any advise or expiernced something similar?

Are you not receiving tax credits?
It will all change when Universal Credit comes in, so just be aware of that. Housing benefit will no longer exist and will become sanctionable as will refusing full time work whilst working part time.0 -
You would have to be careful with your HB claim, if your JSA claim closes they will notify the council so if you don't contact them they will assume you no longer need to claim.
If you are in the North West it is possible closing your JSA claim could result in you being moved to Universal Credit rather than tax credits."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0
