Charged twice in Barcelona

Hi all,
Went to Barcelona on Tuesday for a mini break.
Went to a Tabac and bought 800 cigarettes.
Paid by card and was prompted to enter pin by the terminal, entered pin and was then asked Euros or Sterling. Pressed 1 for Euro and the shop assistant said something was wrong.
Shop assistant then sets up the terminal again and it goes through ok.
Have just checked my account now im back in the UK to see both transactions went through.
Do I have any hope here? It was a Santander Debit card.
Thanks

If your account has been debited twice then contact your card issuer (bank in this case).
If the two transactions are pending then monitor your account, however in this scenario one of the transactions will disappear in a few days.0 -
i think you may find that both go through as purchases, in which case you will need to try to get Santander to claim back one of the 'purchases' from the tabac0

...........be aware that if both transactions go through you might lose out because of the difference in buying and selling Euros.
You may have to twist arms at Santander card services to get everything back.0 -
Thanks for all the replies.
Happy to say that 1 transaction was refunded today.
