Like the idea of having my domain on it. I went on the Google domains section and they don't have co. UK domains just yet. The dot com version of the domain I want isn't available but I've registered the co UK one. Would blogger allow use of it?

Crikey that looks WAY too technical! I looked on the blogger help forum re using my domain on my blog. Theres a few posts from people asking the same question, all answered by the same person who is obviously very tech minded! Apparantly I would have to "properly set up DNS addresses" and beware of the "second CNAME".... think I'll just stick with the blog name lol

    Hi

Quite new to this so sorry if it doesnt make much sense. I want to start a blog and hopefully earn a bit of cash from adsense. I was just setting up said blog on wordpress and notice at the bottom of the first published page a box sayiing 'your vistors may see adverts here' so I looked at the info and it seems that the ad money goes to wordpress, which is fair enough.
But I am absolutely not starting this blog cos I love writing - I am absolutely skint and although I am aware that I wont make lots of money from it, every little helps

So, bearing in mind that I dont know much about creating websites (had an ekm shop a while back but thats just type, drag and drop) where can I get a free blogging site where I can place a few adsense ads on it

    Many thanks

The money to be made from Adsense is not with a blog, it's with You Tube videos based on my own experience to date.

I have ads on a few of my sites and a fair amount of YT videos and the difference in earnings between the two is substantial.

    You already commenting saying this.

While there is probably more of a chance of people seeing a Youtube video there are many bloggers who do very well and some things are better as blogs. With both platforms there are those that do very well and those that get nowhere.

Also nothing to stop people doing both.

Making sure people know of other options is fine, but the OP wanted to do a blog and you've commented twice now telling them they should be doing videos.

Both require hard work to get a decent amount and not everyone has a camera or the editing skills.

all ideas very helpful though - I am also considering you tube which is why started another thread about music on videos, hadnt really considered YT until someone else mentioned it. But, as Fly On the Wall said, not everyone has the editing skills so this will be a slow burner to bear in mind as I'm not much good with video stuff . Blog's coming along nicely though. I applied for Adsense the other day and they replied that I dont have enough content yet so ive got a long list of stuff to blog about a few times a week - luckily stuff I'm quite interested in so hopefully the words will flow.

Im using blogger but have also contacted fasthosts as with their Business Bronze package you can place adsense ads and have a 'proper domain' and templates.

Many many thanks for all your comments and advice

I used blogger for years. Although I no longer update my main blog as I have changed it to wordpress dot org. My other blogs still on blogger with adsense active

You can buy your own domain name and point it to blogger through domain mapping I think it is called. Blogger has info about this.

Thanks - I like Blogger, will be sticking with that. However, i am struggling with the webmaster tool to verify the site. In the google verification , there is an HTML file to download. Done that. Then it says 'upload the file and click on it to verify ownership' But I have no idea, and cant find any info as to how to upload it. I looked on the help forum of blogger and it seems that theres one or two senior members who answer the questions within minutes in a manner that is too technical for me.
    Any ideas welcome, many thanks
