free website for a blog where I can use adsense

Hi

Quite new to this so sorry if it doesnt make much sense. I want to start a blog and hopefully earn a bit of cash from adsense. I was just setting up said blog on wordpress and notice at the bottom of the first published page a box sayiing 'your vistors may see adverts here' so I looked at the info and it seems that the ad money goes to wordpress, which is fair enough.
But I am absolutely not starting this blog cos I love writing - I am absolutely skint and although I am aware that I wont make lots of money from it, every little helps

So, bearing in mind that I dont know much about creating websites (had an ekm shop a while back but thats just type, drag and drop) where can I get a free blogging site where I can place a few adsense ads on it

Many thanks

  • blogger is free and you can use adsense

be warned it could be a long time before you make any money with adsense

  • I'm going to echo chazsucks. I've had an old blog on Blogger which I used to post on and still have Adsense running on. I've had it up for around 2 years and so far I've earned just over £3.

I will add that I haven't updated that blog in well over a year as I'm focusing on my own website, which I haven't got adverts on. But even when I was updating it I wasn't earning much. You need to hit £60 for cashout, which takes a long time.

If you're not that interested in writing then I think you'll get bored of it long before you earn anything from it.
  • crikey thats not a lot is it. The content of the blog is something which I can update quite easily every other day without too much effiort.

you hear of people making thousands but I guess theyre the experienced dedicated bloggers
  • It depends on so many things, I used to earn quite a bit from an old blog, but that was a few years ago when there was a LOT less competition - so when people googled certain things I always came up, even though I didn't update it much.

Now, I have other blogs which I started in the last couple of years. You can make decent money from sponsors etc but still advertising is peanuts. One of my blogs is currently around 20k visitors per month... advertising from adsense is between £4-6 per month. However if I choose to write sponsored posts / send sponsored tweets - say one to two a week I could easily make £800-£1,200. But I mainly choose not to because most of the sponsors don't fit my blog, and it's a personal blog not business so I choose not to sacrifice content for money.

However if you start a blog, write consistently (as you say ever other day), make sure each post has good SEO and maybe a good pinnable pinterest image, promote to social media such as facebook, pinterest, google+, stumble upon etc etc. Then over time you should build up authority in your niche, and although the ad income may not be a lot you should start getting offered sponsored posts etc.

Once you hit around 80k pageviews per month you can join an ad network such as the blogger network or adthrive, where you're income will be MUCH higher than adsense... but unfortunately they have minimum pageviews. Also the more traffic you get the more your sponsored posts will be paid.... For example if you have 1-2million visitors a month you could possible ask £2k+ PER post.

Anyway that's enough rambling from me. You can definitely make money from a blog, but it takes a long time and lot's of hard work behind the scenes!

I've previously mentioned on another thread about free blogs and having adsense. The best way in my opinion is to create You Tube videos and monetise them. It's a slow process in trying to earn anything with a blog in comparison to videos.

    Hi

Sorry I'm new here just reading about mortgages lol, don't want to seem like one of the guys trying to sell something but I'd recommend you search for 'blackhatworld' its a internet marketing forum.
I'd also reccomend getting your own site rather than using a web 2.0 platform, can search for offers and get the domain for $1, hosting for 2-3$ a month if you search offers again, would reccomend hostgator.

After that you should read about 'on site seo' sounds daunting at the start but its quite simple. Also wouldn't really reccomend adsense depending on what you're doing. Use affiliate offers, clickbank is a good site that lists them.

Also the easiest way for getting quick views would be 'seo jacking'. Write a review for 5-10 products with a affiliate set up and then set up google alerts for any similar terms, when a news story comes up post a good comment with a link to your site

Thanks - not very web savvy to be honest so if I got a domain and hosting I would have no idea what to do next lol.

Ill have a look ino affiliates and sponsors tho. The web log topic is pretty basic stuff so I could 'pad'it out with text and pics, not sure there would be much to make a video about for You Tube

If using different ways of getting money from it make sure that nothing conflicts. Read any terms and conditions and make sure you follow the rules. Also don't go over the top, no one likes constant ads and affiliate links everywhere.

Make sure you own any images you post.

If you have enough to write about and keep a blog updated you should have enough to do Youtube videos. Perhaps you could do a video on what would be a few blog posts if the videos would be really short otherwise. Nothing to stop you doing both.

You shouldn't start a blog with the pure aim of making money though. It'll show in your content. You need to write about something you know a lot on and like and be motivated to keep writing.

If you want to write for a living, AdSense is unlikely to provide the long term income you're looking for. There is also some serious controversy over the AdSense program, with internal sources claiming that Google has been gaming the system and terminating accounts rather than pay the money earned - see this Cnet article for a brief introduction.

In reality you will probably be better off registering for an online freelancer marketplace - PeoplePerHour is the least evil of an evil bunch - or contacting content marketing agencies direct asking if you can help with any projects. They need a steady stream of blog posts, articles and white papers for their clients, and they tend to pay much better than the pennies you'll earn from AdSense (assuming you can deliver what they want).

Chazsucks is right - there is a huge amount of work required to build a profitable blog. Especially as the Internet is literally saturated with them, creating a vast array of very experienced competitors who you will need to beat.
