YNAB vs. free budgeting software?

Hey guys.
A while ago I tried a free trial of YNAB, but decided not to pay to continue using it. It seems very popular and is used more than other budgeting apps.
What I can't seem to figure out is why it is preferable to free budgeting apps and software?
I feel like I'm missing something :embarasse

I think it is popular because it deals with the problem most people that can't/don't budget properly have.
Short term cash flow.
Once people fix that problem so they stop running out of cash they can move forward.
if you have plenty of cash/buffer, plan your budget properly looking ahead a few years setting goals etc. track you only spend to plan then any tool will do.0
