Car Insurance - do I declare this?

Hi All,
Did anyone actually wind up with any straight answer on this?
I'm looking at renewal and have just sent off a reply to a notice of intended prosecution showing myself as the driver.
I'd have no problem declaring it to the insurer...except...the difference it makes is insane.
Without the conviction, my minimum quote is 275.
With a "pending conviction", minimum quote is 620.
If I add the actual conviction I'd get on, minimum quote is 285...
But I imagine its fraudulent to claim to have a conviction you don't...
To be technical, I suppose...I don't actually have a conviction pending...I have a prosecution pending. In all probability I'll be given a speed awareness course, they'll drop the prosecution and I'll never be convicted...I'm not sure you can be said to have a pending conviction until you've been prosecuted...0 -
Just in case anyone else stumbles upon this...Thought I'd feed back my experience: I explained the situation to my insurer and they made a note on my file that I must let them know the outcome by my next renewal, but otherwise just quoted as normal...so a good result.0

Yes.
Please do mention as "pending".
Your premium might increase. But trust me it is all worth it.
If you don't declare this, and then in the unlikely event you need to make a claim, they will not accept it and make your policy void.
Then it will be a dirty situation.
Please take our advice and declare it.
This happened to my friend.
Who did not inform insurance regarding SP50 (motorway speeding) at renewel. And he was involved in an accident and was stuck. And he had to pay everything out from his pocket. And he is still recovering from that loss.
All the best.
And I hope your wife gets speed awareness course. As it saves the license and no rise in premium.0 -
If you do really "own a Broker" then you knowingly gave very bad advice here as you would be fully aware that a pending conviction would need to be declared if asked.
Perhaps you should tell us all the name of this Broker so that anyone who gets an NIP can benefit..
Pending: (adjective) awaiting decision or settlement
It's VERY clear from the wording that a notice of intended prosecution is a pending conviction. The decision may go either way, but it is very definitely awaiting decision. You must therefore declare it.
Perhaps "Pending prosecution" would be the better term for clarity, but there's no specific ambiguity."You did not pull yourself up by your bootstraps. You were lucky enough to come of age at a time when housing was cheap, welfare was generous, and inflation was high enough to wipe out any debts you acquired. I’m pleased for you, but please stop being so unbearably smug about it."0
