If you had done it yourself your would be sitting on quite a bit more, perhaps anywhere between £25k -£30k in total, depending on what percentage they were charging,

    Marty...
  • My point is the bank lied and said we had no PPI on three occasions.Without claim firms we would have nothing.

HAL_9000's point is that if you had ignored the claims firm and gone to FOS yourself, you would have had received considerably more - with no extra effort on your part.
  • I believed the bank when they said I had no PPI.It was only when claim company contacted us and said we were due money back that I asked them to go ahead and claim on our behalf. If it was not for claim company we would have had nothing.

What a heart warming story. How did the claims company know you were due money and how did they manage to get the bank to admit that you did have PPI after all?

Its a shame you paid a CMC to use the free of charge process. You would have had more in your pocket then.

So, you were lied to by the claims company too then.

Depends on who you asked at the bank. The frontline staff and call centre staff often do not know other then for recent products. The PPI helplines or the complaints team would know (or find out). The banks have been offering free of charge to use processes for years.

You do realise claims companies contact everyone and tell them they are due money back.

then they get lucky sometimes in instances such as yours when you say yes to claim

    They do indeed.

I have been dealing with a case this week where the claims company has told a pack of lies in its standard letter.

When I telephoned the actual consumers, I learned that they were told that the complaint would be against the insurance company and not get the adviser, a personal friend of theirs, into any trouble.

    Another lie.

A new poster, joins up to promote "claims firms" (note the plural) after being lied to by banks (note the plural)
I wondered how many claims firms they employed and how many banks lied to them?

Then it changes to one bank, lied three times, then they got 20.000 pounds which was rightfully theirs . . .

yeah, really convincing . . . reads like an advert.
