New electricity metre?

Hi, we've got one of the old style electricty meters, the ones with 5-6 dials which go in opposite directions, in our victorian terrace. I was wondering can we request having it swapped to a new digital meter?
In our old house they came and swapped it without asking but can I actually request it gets done?
I have no real reason for wanting it done other than it's easier to read, and also we had the whole house re-wired when we moved in so I feel like I should have a new meter to match the new wiring.
Is it a good idea to get it swapped? Who do I ask if I can?
