Rmg living help

Hi I just wanted to find some information on how to get rid of a management company? We own an apartment and the management company is RMG living. The charges they charge for a one bedroom flat are extremely high considering it is only a bedroom flat.

There are 3 bedroom houses which pay less. I was told I would need to get on the board to be able to make decisions. Is there any other way besides getting on the board? I have contacted management companies which would take over.

Could someone please give me advise on what I can do? The half yearly charges keep going up. RMG were late with there statement this year so we have missed two months which they expect us to pay the full 6months into 4 months. I find this unexcepable because it is not our fault they were late with their statements and now we suffer with the monthly payments going from £102 to £150 a month.

Thank you

The management company work for the freehold owner. You need to find out who owns the freehold.
If all the flats in the block jointly own the freehold you can get rid of the management company.
If the freeholder is someone else you can get certain rights to self manage the building but you would have to go through a process as described on the lease advice website provided above.

How many people are part of your development....I believe you need to obtain a majority consent in order to potentially change management companies.

If there is a board who make desisions have you thought about writing to them to express your concerns. If you were able to get additional residents to agree with you then the board may be obliged to look at alternatives...afterall presumably they must act in everyones interest and if the majority are unhappy that may push them to seek alternatives.
