O/S Daily Friday 27th February 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Still dark, but looks dry underfoot. Load ready to go in WM. Put washing out on line yesterday and it started raining 5 minutes later and then didn’t stop until well into the afternoon, hoping for a better day today.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage and pasta in a creamy tomato sauce. Tonight will be something and chips for the menfolk, and jacket potato with something for me – will organise that when I do the food shopping this morning. This morning I have the normal chores of going to town and visiting the bank, then to building society to get a cheque to pay the bill for the boiler repairs that arrived yesterday – wasn’t quite as much money as they quoted but still too much!
I did manage to get most of the washing, drying and ironing done yesterday but there’s still some to do today so will crack on with that, also there’s housework to be done.
Have good Fridays’ everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all. Thick frost everywhere this morning. When is it ever going to get any warmer?!
The GDSs are still asleep so enjoying a bit of peace for the minute. When they have gone to school the wm will be to go on and then I am meeting a friend for a coffee (or two) and a natter. We have been friends since we were 7 and meet up maybe every 3 months or so. It's to give me my birthday present (early!) as I am away next week and then she is away for the two weeks after that.
It's hard to believe it's our caravan site opening date this weekend. But we are postponing until it gets a bit warmer. We'll see what it's like when we get back from Cumbria next weekend. After we got snowed in there 2 years ago Mr TA wants to wait till better weather is with us. We had set up early March and when we heard heavy snow was forecast we went over to check all was secure. And that was the start of it! I have never seen snow like it! It was impossible for anyone to get in or out. Fortunately we had stocked up with food and wine (and gas) so we quite enjoyed the experience. DD wasn't so impressed though when we couldn't get back to look after the girls!!
Well have a good day all. Take care if you have frost and ice xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Late shift for hubby today, his colleague needed to swap so he could get his hair cut!
TA, I see a lot of my DGC, but I don't envy you have to do the school run etc, it must be hard work for you.
nmlc, I often look to your posts for inspiration on what to cook for tea.
Quick wave to Lame Wolf, I hope you get your internet access sorted soon.
Fish have been fed, hubby has a cuppa, so do I, I'll set of for work in a sec, I slept really well last night.
DD & I took 2 of the DGC to watch a school play, it was very enjoyable & the children were very well behaved. I also had a cuddle with 5 month old DGC, she's full of smiles & really filling out now.
I'm hoping to make a start on some sewing tonight, we have the oldest DGS staying but he's no trouble & quite likes sewing so he'll probably help me happily enough.
It's time I made a move.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all
Sharp frost here too and very cold, will have to check the birds water and food this morning.
Off to work but I am very glad its Friday its been a long week going to treat myself to a large glass of wine tonight as a treat for getting through to Friday !
OH has the day off so will be in charge of dinner I think we will have meatballs which I need to get out of the freezer.
We have my sisters 4 dogs and mums dog coming for the weekend, I am looking forward to it actually I don't like being in a non dog household but I am not ready for another one yet.
Need to do a wash tonight, the rest can wait till tomorrow.
Topsy nice to see you posting, so sorry to hear your step dad is suffering xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning All
Damp and overcast here but not raining yet and doesn't appear to be windy, yesterday was really rough. Washing on the airers, will put DW on when I get home, don't like to leave it going whilst I am out all day, too many scary stories!
Had stir fry veg with salmon last night which was tasty, also made a pot of soup so that will do us for lunches for the next few days.
Nothing exciting happening, hope you are all well and have a good Friday. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone.
Many thanks for all the good wishes yesterday, they certainly worked as the day was lovely. Loads of cards, flowers, presents, lunch out, drive home and then a bit of fizz. :j
Today it's back to 'old clothes and porridge'. I will start off by washing the kitchen and utility room floors, hate doing that so put it off too many times. The back garden is so muddy at the moment.
Booked myself onto a half day course to learn how to properly use my new DSLR camera, too many functions and knobs and buttons, even finding out how to charge the battery was a challenge as there's not a piece of cable.
The very thought of caravanning in this weather makes me shudder TA, not surprised you're putting it off a bit.
Hope everyone has a good Friday.0 -
Good Morning all x
Bit less stiff this morning but going to be sensible and take another day off work to rest up as the last thing i need is to go back and pull my back again and have to take a week off. Dont think my boss is too impressed but what can i do.
All i managed to do yesterday was the online shopping which is getting delivered today. Did go a bit stir crazy until my DD and DGD popped in. She DD then did all my HW so i wasnt tempted and could rest. Gotta love them when they do things like that x
Well better hobble on and get dressed so hugs to all in need xBright Blessings xx0 -
Good morning everyone
It looks to be a much nicer day today judging by the sun coming through the window. The girls and hubby have gone off to school/work ok and it's PAYDAY!! It has been a nice short month for us so have managed to squirrel away some pennies towards getting a car.
I'm expecting another muscle food delivery today and tescos is delivering our shopping as well so I will have to make room in the freezers. I am cooking steak burgers for the family for tea and I will have the leftover cumberland pie I made yesterday. It was a big hit with everyone except DD13 as she doesn't like mashed potato crisped up in the oven, she's a strange one :rotfl:.
March is our family's birthday month with my grand daughter's, my friend's, my DD14's and my eldest DD's. My poor purse will be crying, not forgetting 2 Mother's day cards and presents on the 15th.
I love birthdays and special occasions though so I like to make them a big deal. My daughters all want money instead of presents though so that is easier for me. My grand daughter is having some headphones for her tablet and some money in a card.
We have no sky at the moment due to the roofers putting scaffolding all round the house so we are working our way through some box sets. I'm enjoying the Big Bang Theory very much and we also have the first 4 series of Doc Martin to get through. I am missing all my cop shows though.
Well the gas engineer has just turned up to try and fix the boiler so I shall be off. Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good Morning All,
It's a bit breezy here today but hopefully it will keep the rain away.
I have a full list of chores today including cleaning some of the windows.
Groceries will be delivered tonight so i will have to tidy the freezers etc.
DH has had a head cold since Sunday and I think he has managed to pass it on to me.
I am off to put the kettle on again before i make a start on my list.
Have a great day everyone,
Regards:j0 -
Good Morning everyone it's bright and sunny here today with blue sky but is jolly cold outside and when I took out the ashes from the stove the compost bin they go in had a frozen on lid! I'm off to the supermarket today and our smashing local butcher to get what I need for the next few days, I'm very impressed with the recipes from my new slow cooker book and made an absolutely amazing chilli last night using shin of beef of all things which came out meltingly tender and delicious. We're almost done redecorating the back bedroom now, painting was done yesterday and it's now a lovely warm buttery cream in preparation for the new carpet to go down in a couple of weeks time. It will be very nice when it's finished too! I'm off to put another load in the washing machine as I think it's going to be a fantastic drying day today and things smell so much nicer if they've been dried out in the fresh air don't they?
Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.0
