Point taken thanks, but as it stands that's how it looks to me.

One of the managers who got involved jumped to the conclusion a mistake had been made, before establishing the facts, which annoyed me.

I am in the process of raising another grievance and will let any subsequent investigation hopefully establish the reason.

You've been given a lot of advice on this thread, which is great.

However, this bit of your post jumped out at me.

As yet you have absolutely no evidence. Yet you have reached a conclusion which suits your perception. That's exactly what you've accused your manager of doing. Do you not see the parallel?

Well the problem is, apart from your feelings, you have no concrete evidence. Even if you go to tribunal, surely you won't be able to show anything more than your feelings?

You say that you are raising another grievance? Was the previous grievance for a similar issue?

Even if you don't know your colleague well, why don't you just ask how they got on the course and how they used the skills learnt for their job? Perhaps you could use the chat to get to know them better

    What is the course?

Why wouldn't they like me, I've only been working there about 2 months? I've had next to no interaction with this particular manager.

So, you're the OP but using an alternative log in?

So, you're the OP but using an alternative log in?

    I was just thinking that.

However, to the OP. You have only been there 2 months and already seeking work grievances. To be honest you hardly sound like a team player and if you've only just arrived why should you snap your fingers and be given this course???

You've already said you don't know your colleague but in your head you magically know all their previous qualifications??

You come across as petty which is maybe why you are being passed over.

Wish I could demand training after being in a place after two months.

If it's anything like the company I work for (and it sounds like a VERY similar process, so could in fact be the same company), you don't have to follow the same procedure if you are being asked to undertake the training over requesting the training. A few people where I am, including myself, have been offered training without asking for it, the trouble comes when we ask for it, it's hard as hell to get it approved as it needs justification, as such I can't get the training I would need to progress up in the company.

Most likely what has happened which has happened here, to cover any suspected losses of members of the team, someone else may be required to take over that work at short notice but may not have the training to do so. The most beneficial thing was to train up and have more than one resource to do certain aspects of the job. It may be a needs must thing and a couple of people were asked.

But after two months, it's a bit of a risk to invest in someone so new in case you decide to jump ships after the training, without a claw-back clause, you would then be costing the company money, so may have picked others over you who they may be more confident of staying on. This is how it appears to be working in my business unit anyway.

    Just my 2p.

Yes, the reason is that all those who have gotten this course and all managers are a different colour than me.

I think you have been far too quick to play the race card.

Perhaps they just don't like you as a person? Perhaps you just don't bond with the managers like the others? Perhaps you are not as competent at your job as the others?

The very fact you are blaming it on race indicates that you are very quick to judge. Perhaps it is that attribute alone that makes people see you in a negative light?

It is not just about doing a job, it is about being part of a team, which means getting along with everyone, rather than a 'me vs them' attitude.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Two grievances in two months? Hardly fitting in to the new team/company, are you? :rotfl:
