Blue Badges
Apparently when someone applies for a Blue Badge they have to quote the reg. number of the vehicle they use most.
Does this mean that something is flaged up on that reg number so cameras, number plate reading cameras and police vehicles know it has a disabled person in it before even seeing the badge.
I was thinking if a blue badge holder drove down a restricted road which they are allowed to do would something come up against the reg number to prove ok to be there?

What sort of "restricted road"? I'm struggling to think of a scenario where a vehicle displaying a disabled badge is permitted to proceed along a road but other motorists aren't.0

I think OP means Toll roads that would otherwise be payable and free for disabled BB holders.
OP blue badge is designated to the person, the reg is assigned to main car that they use, but the badge can be used in any vehicle so long as the disabled person is using it. its not on any system or police national computer the registered keeper is disabled other than the DVLA who logs it the tax class a disabled.0 -
Quite a lot of semi-pedestrian areas in town centres are "no access except for disabled badge holders" at certain times.
As for the question from the OP, I may well be wrong because they keep extending the reach of computers but, afaik, councils (who issue blue badges) have no way to record anything against a vehicle's DVLA record. They'd also not normally need to in this case because if there's a "main" car it would usually be taxed as disabled.
Far more likely that it's to help their traffic wardens spot badges that may be getting "loaned" to non-disabled friends / family members.0 -
Having a Blue Badge doesn't mean that the holders car is necessarily registered as disabled/tax exempt.
As I understand it, it's the higher level of Disability Living Allowance that normally gives that entitlement.
People receiving the enhanced rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or War Pensioner’s Mobility Supplement also qualify.
I'd be delighted to be proved wrong.0 -
