Is this a scam?

Hi there,
I work part time for a small local charity. Today I had a telephone call from Clear Business Water. The man said that we have to pay some sort of water charge for drainage and sewage which is in addition to the water bill that we already pay to a different provider.
He told me that each office in the building has to pay an individual charge (it works out at like £75 each individual office).
We rent the building from a landlord and he said that something had come up in his system. Apparently it's some new law.
I questioned him as it sounded dodgy to me and that I should be getting billed from our present supplier or Scottish Water. But he said it's definitely law.
I ended up giving him my name because I didn't know what else to do.
Does anyone know anything about this new charge?
Thanks for any help in advance.

The water bill will show charges for the services, and the enclosed leaflets will mention new charges. Never respond to cold callers.
PS they may be legitimate but if you are not with them wait until paperwork from your current supplier arrives.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Thanks a lot PlutoinCapricorn. So even when I get the information from them do you think I should wait for my current supplier to tell me about these additional charges?0

Yes, this is normal practice. Your existing supplier should notify you of any changes to your charges. Not that I know anything about business water supply regulations in Scotland!
This phone call may be a disguised attempt to get you to switch to them. Down here we are tied to one water supplier, but the electricity companies never stop trying to take each others' customers and persuade people to switch!Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I'd phone your water supplier and ask them about these 'new laws'.
In the past, we got water from one company and another one dealt with the outgoings, so two bills, but now sanity has prevailed and we get one bill covering both services. However, the charges for each are listed separately.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
