Sorry Mick I didn't explain myself properly I meant its virtually impossible to get package flights into Cairo or Luxor as none of the tour ops are risking it or they weren't last time I looked, much to the disgust of one of our customers who gives me a lecture in the supermarket every time I see her, which in a small town is regular. After the canaries being such awful weather this feb half term even my husband is considering Egypt next year, so we're hoping for a bargain because people don't want to go.

Thomson are flying into Luxor. Think it's a Wednesday flight?
People are definitely going to Egypt, the resorts in the Red Sea are much more busy than this time last year. Looking at some of the Tour Operators, prices for end of March are very high which would suggest that they are not struggling to get bookings.
A lot of places have had random weather the past few weeks, lets hope it doesn't head this way now it has started to warm up!

Went to Sharm at a time of alert too some year back and yes, the security was intimidating, guards standing everywhere, road blocks, high security in hotel, guards everywhere with guns when we went for an event in the desert, but in a way, that did make me feel much safer. Once you got used to it, you could ignore it and we had a fantastic time. Felt very welcome.
