How do you tell if a ebay seller is using stock photos

A few weeks ago a seller on ebay had 3 items the same listed as new but the photos they was using was of a used item / factory seconds, So I sent the seller a message to ask if they would be able to send me a picture of the actual item and they told me the pictures in the listing are of the actual item. I then went ahead and bought the item and when it arrived the item is new and nothing like the photos.
So could someone tell me how you know when a seller is using a stock photo.

Go to google and drag the picture into the search bar and it will search the web for the picture, and if the seller used a search engine to find the picture in the first place (which they probably did) then it will find it in short shrift.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. It might have found the very instance of the image you were checking, but did it find other instances of it whether it be on eBay or elsewhere?Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Ah, I was going to suggest same as ballisticbrian. Not only stock photos, but it ensures people aren't just lifting from others listings. Google image search won't find 100%, but it's the best place to start it finding the most obvious copies.0
