Credit Card for Petrol

I am sorry if this has been posted before but I have just switched job and need help for a credit card.

My new job requires extensive travel, travelling around 600-1000 miles a week. I normally fill my car at Sainsbury's as the diesel tends to be cheapest... I use a nectar card, but hoping there is a credit card out there that would provide me additional savings/ rewards relating to this petrol....

Which cards can you recommend?

Thank you in advance,
My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.

48.78% towards 2015 target.

105.3% towards 2014 target. :j

Look at Martin's guide on cashback cards, but the Santander 123 sounds like it would be a good bet with 3% cashback for the first £300 per month that you spend on fuel (but note it does have a £24 annual fee). If you spend a lot more than that, then there are some other reward cards out there that I'm sure some people will recommend.

thanks tripled, I did look into Santander - I would prefer not paying a charge if possible...

For £100 spent on fuel each month it doesn't make much sense to pay £2 fee for getting £3 cashback unless you get cashback on other purchases as well.

However, with other card you are unlikely to get more than 0.5% in the long run on the top of Sainsbury's or Tesco points.

It's worth noting that you don't pay the fee first year if you have 123 current account that is worth having regardless.

Where did you get £100 a month on fuel from? If the OP is doing 600-1000 miles per week then either they have the world's most economic car or they will be spending considerably more than £100 a month. I'd guess they will easily get the £9 for 3% cashback, so that's an immediate £7 a month profit, plus any other cashback they get for other use of the card.

I misread 'per week' as 'per month'. My apologies.

If you regularly purchase fuel from Sainsbury's have you considered their Nectar Purchase Reward card?

You get 2 points per £1 spent on fuel (and I'm guessing 1 point per 1 litre of fuel, too.)
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

Will your employer be refunding your petrol costs? If so check that it is OK to claim loyalty points or cashback on these purchases.

Who cares? You don't 'claim' anything. They pay you.

There was talk of Nectar points earlier. Was just pointing out you may need to be careful claiming points related to purchases that are paid for by your employer.

By 'earlier' do you mean this thread?
What exactly caution is needed and who really cares? E.g. with Tesco you can just use their credit card and get points without using the clubcard, i.e. without 'claiming'.
