Stained Glass Window Film

Hi folks,
Has anyone had any experience of using any form of stained glass window film?
We have a window in our ceiling at the top of our landing (a landing light??) that lets the light from our roof skylight down through the attic and onto the stairs.
Now.. this is in a poor state of repair with cracked panes & and it's not the prettiest so we're looking at various alternatives.
Real stained glass isn't an option due to the cost (& weight - but mostly cost) so I have considered the DIY lead tape & window paint on a plain pane - then I came across the window film idea.
There are various options available on the internet from relatively cheap rolls that you can buy by the metre to more bespoke sizes & designs (I've been looking at Purlfrost).
So..any ideas or experiences to share?
Many thanks
Del

If it is the stuff I am thinking of, you still need to put the self adhesive lead on. Is this going to be on a single glazed pane or a double glazed unit? have you thought about the resin based leading that some companies offer? this will be more than the self adhesive stuff but would be cheaper than true leading.0

Thanks Geodark,
The resin sounds interesting - any companies of which you're aware that does domestic stuff and has an easy to follow website?
Just thinking about a single glazed frame level with ceiling - with additional thick, toughened glass level with the loft floor.0
