acer aspire 5536 laptop currently running windows 7 home premium.
have recently replaced this laptop but would like to use as a second unit but it is running very slow.
it was bought in early 2010 running vista but was upgraded free via discs to windows 7 from acer a few months later that i still have.
my question is i would like to restore this back to a 'new' out of the box state but am concerned that it will revert back to vista.
how can i restore it to a new condition but running windows 7. as i say i do have the upgrade discs still but i am unsure where to start / what to do. (i have backed up anything that i want off of this laptop).
many thanks for any advice.

I'd suggest you start by booting the WIn 7 Disks and see what happens. They may offer the option of a clean install which is effectivly what you want.
Without knowing how Acer configured the upgrade to run its hard to offer suggestions as we don;t know if the Win 7 disks are straight Win 7 disks or need to have Vista below it.
Most important is to be sure you have the product key for Win 7 before you start as the Vista Key will not work0 -
IF they (acer) did it right, the new recovery partition will have been changed as part of the upgrade process to W7 (would have been invisible to the user), so using said partition to factory restore would reinstall 7 not vista. Might be an idea to ask acer how they implemented the upgrade before you start.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
This machine was originally supplied pre-installed with Vista and later models with Windows 7.
We can check as to how they implemented the upgrade by running a software toolkit.
The two main options are installing the updated licence via a BIOS update on the upgrade disc or via a product key on the upgrade disc.
