Getting paid after switching bank account

I have switched my account from TSB to Barclays and the switch date was Monday 23rd. I'm due to get paid on Friday 27th and only informed my employer of the switch today. It's obviously too late for payroll to make the change before pay-day and my old TSB account has been closed since Monday.
TSB have told me that for 30 days from my switch, any payments into my old account will be redirected to my new Barclays account. This could take 24 hours as it isn't a faster payment. So if I get paid on Friday, it should hypothetically go into my Barclays account within one working day. The TSB advisor also told me that I could go into a TSB branch with ID if I needed the amount sooner.
My payroll supervisor seems to think that when my employer attempts to pay me on Friday, the amount will bounce back to them as the old account has been closed.
What should I expect in this situation as I'm hearing different things.

Firstly, depending on how your salary gets paid (Direct Credit?), TSB could have informed your employer about the switch.
If they have not, all payments to your closed accounts will get forwarded to the new one, not bounced.

I'm pretty sure that I'm paid by direct credit (BACS), yes. I switched from Santander to TSB a couple of years ago and I know that TSB contacted my employer and so on. I just didn't know if this was the done thing or it was just done out of courtesy because I switched in branch. This time I switched online and wasn't sure.
I'm glad to hear all payments will be forwarded to the new account, although the TSB advisor said that this was for only 30 days as opposed to the 13 months as quoted in the FAQ that you posted. A letter from Barclays also states 'Any payments that are sent to your old account from the switch date onwards will be redirected to your Barclays Account. This service will continue for a period of 13 months.'0 -

Or you could just inform your employer of your new bank details just in case.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

May be you misunderstood the TSB advisor, or they were telling you porkies. It is 13 months.0 -
Interestingly, I got this letter last month which suggests that the 13 months is being extended...43580

Your salary credit should go through to your new account automatically. I was in the same situation and it appeared at exactly the same time as it used to with my previous account. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks for all your advice/reassurance. I'm due to get paid at any point from midnight until tomorrow morning. I spoke to my former local TSB branch and they said it should go over the same working day but it could be the next working day. We shall see! Thanks again!0
