Cormar Carpets!!!

Has any one had problems with Cormar Carpet? We purchased a carpet last November and within 3 weeks we noticed a circular mark. After we reported it to the retailer, who then reported it to Cormar, the manufacturer, who then instructed an Inspector who was supposed to be totally unbiased. The findings were bordering on the ridiculous i.e crushing of the pile causing shading??? whatever that means!! we then had a second inspection (charged to the retailer, I hasten to add!) after protesting which resulted in the excuse now being we didn't have new underlay (the existing underlay was in good condition!!) and we had a hand held hoover which actually was a cordless upright by Bosch!! fortunately, the retailer has been really helpful and has promised to replace it at his own expense. We feel however, this large company should admit they supplied faulty goods and not make the retailer bear the brunt.

Shading is certainly not a ridiculous statement.... it is pretty common and doesn't mean that Cormar Carpets have provided a faulty carpet.....Shading (also known as several other names) can be caused by several factors ie: traffic or a heavy item placed on that particular area and the optical light hits it differently than the unaffected area. If you are unhappy with both inspections why don't you commission your own and see if their findings differ from the others.
The retailer has most probably given in for an easy life and not because Cormar are playing hard ball.0 -
do you have any (preferably high quality) images of the marks, both close up and in context? Im a carpet fitter with 20 years experence and so may be able to give you my oppinion on the marks.
Shading (if that is what it is) is compleatly normal and not a fault, and if fact your vacume cleaner may not be helping. Assuming the carpet is a twist (which most of cormar carpets are) then a heavy upright vacume cleaner with a powered beater bar should bee used).0 -

However, do you realise that legally the responsibility for any fault lies with whoever sold it to you?
The retailer can of course seek a remedy for the faulty goods from whoever supplied him, if his contract allows, beit the manufacturer or a wholesaler.0 -
We had a carpet that had shading from the pile being crushed when it was stored. It appeared as a dark line about 12 inches wide all the way down the carpet. Nothing we could do about it. Isn't that why they store carpets on their ends rather than laying down ? We didn't notice it after a while.0

actually no you cant store carpets on their ends (with the exemption of short cut piles like flotex), as that would cause the carpet to warp and distort due to the uneven weight on the carpet.
The type of mark your refering to happens to every single carpet to varying degrees (the softer the pile, the heaver the roll and the longer the carpet is stored will make the line more premoniant). The type of line your refering to will dissepar on its own over time (ive only known it not to go twice in my entire career).0
