Hello.

I'm with Talk Talk.

Last 3 days or so broadband is dropping out.

I've changed nothing.

Used to happen regularly up until 2 years back. Then very good.

But it's come back and really annoying.

Before I contact them any idea why it should happen? Router dlink dsl 2780. Phone unaffected.

Thanks.

    Contact Talktalk to report it.

They can do some line tests to check if your line OK.

If you get no joy come back here and post what they say.

Similar problem last year , unreliable speed and jitter preventing use of more than one device and failed downloads with poor streaming . After spending far too many hours on the helpline agreed to a disastrous fibre upgrade thanks to BT Openreach leaving us without broadband for three weeks .

The problem arose shortly before TalkTalk advertised fibre available in our area , it was resolved within one week of emailing the CEO and the service now runs like a well-oiled sewing machine with speeds of around 38 and no jitter even with 5 devices running .

Overall we think the service is great but too much time was wasted on customer service twitter and the user forum which all meant well but failed to address the real problem which in our case appeared to be BT Openreachs complacent attitude .

Would we do it again , probably with the insistence that all calls are recorded with service agents identified by name , location and time . TalkTalks tendency to reassure callers by quoting irrelevant maximum line speed without any examination of other things affecting the signal and then " escalating " concerns is unhelpful in our experience , insisting on speaking to the Loyalty department seems to get fastest results outside the CEO office .

    Hope this helps

You need to make sure it's not a WiFi issue, because when you phone them that's the first thing they'll want you to check.

  • Yes, I'll bet the router's had a wander around and the angle of signal is different

Or install inSSIDer on your PC (or even your phone/tablet). Does the same thing - identifies all wifi networks your device can see, so you can see which channels are busy and which are quiet. Manually set your wifi network to a quiet channel, and turn off automatic mode (or whatever it is called) ... this often switches to the busiest channel rather than the quietest.
