Cant use hyperlink in IE

My laptop automatically updated to windows 8.1 yesterday and I now cannot use the hyperlink button when posting comps in IE but I can in chrome, any help would be appreciated.
I do it just for fun and whatever I win is a bonus

I only have IE8 here, but ...
Tools | Internet Options | Security tab
Select the zone (e.g. Internet) then click on Custom Level. Scroll down near the bottom of the list and Enable (or set to Prompt) Active Scripting.

You can always do it the long-hand way ...

I did this on a lappy a few weeks ago.. Settings up on the top right. Allow Scripts or something..
I forget whats there, but a single click sorted it. This also stopped animations in emails received like virtual greetings cards.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
