New Vodafone contract problem

Hi

Long story short, Phone/contract purchased via Mobile Phones Direct, issues with initial activation, eventually phone activated by Vodafone and works fine, next morning texts and calls made by phone are from two different numbers, no one at Vodafone can locate my details, apparently one of these numbers doesn't exist and the other is registered to a completely different customer..

I have spent in excess of 6 hours on online chat and phone calls being passed from pillar to post just trying to get a useable device.

I have now had enough and just want to return handset and cancel contract as i do not want to be tied into a contract with any company that cannot get the most basic of things sorted and working correctly. (Handset was delivered to me on Monday)

Problem i'm concerned about is that the paperwork that came with the phone states returns not acceptable if sim has been inserted into handset. Is that a legal statement as surely certain issues will only be discovered by using the phone?

Any help on where i stand with this?

  • You took the phone out through a dealer and it's their t&c which are relevant. I don't think you could therefore cancel once the sim is used, although if they haven't set it up properly in the first place you may be able to get something done. The Vodafone Web Relations Team (see complaints thread on here) is the only part of Vodafone worth dealing witrh and they may be able to help. Other than that it may be the dealer you should be communicating with.

Have tried to deal with both and both pointing the finger at the other, i should not be having to spend this amount of time trying to get the phone connected, how can i be tied into a contract that i cannot cancel if they cannot even get my phone connected in the first place..........?
  • Try the Web Relations Team - see Vodafone Complaints thread as to how to contact them. It's the only way you're likely to get anywhere.
