With a similar sounding fault on my Octavia, The odometer was fine it was just the trip that reset itself.
Passed MOT but this was some time ago. AFAIK the car is not driven for the MOT so speedo cannot be checked.0 -
The garage have checked everything else and it is defo the dash that is the issue.
The cost they say is that the dash needs to be sent away to get reconditioned as it needs to be programmed correctly (ie: you can't simply buy a second hand one and install it, it needs to be coded to the car itself).0 -
Your garage is speaking with slightly forked tongue. If it is sent away to be re-conned it wont need re-programming, it is going back into the same car.
Some people go to the bother of getting second-hand parts (seems daft with it being a common fault, how long before the new second-hand part fails?) then have to pay the local leccygenius to reprogramme. False economy.0 -
So is £120-£170 an ok cost for a re-con?0

What is the fault? Just the speedo or have the other gauges started playing up?
Check with BBA-Reman and the other, similar companies that do fast turn around repairs.0
