Fault converse?

Sorry if this is the wrong board!
I ordered some converse trainers from Debenhams on the 14th July 2014. I didn't wear them all the time and stopped wearing them for winter (instead wearing my wellies!)
I've put them on today and the front is "sticking out" like it hasn't been glued in. I can "push" it back in, but I'm wondering whether I can / if Debenhams will replace them? You can see they've hardly been worn.
As its over 6 months though, will I have a leg to stand on?
These were purchased online

Sounds like you should be able to return under sale of goods act. I would expect trainers to last six months, if not worn daily. Just take your receipt email into store0

Thanks!
I've spoken to debenhams.... They said I must return them to a store that has a converse department (trainers were brought online) the nearest store to me, with the converse department, is an hour away! Can they make me do this?0 -

Pretty much. If it was less than 6 months since you bought them then the onus would be on Debenhams to prove that the shoes aren't inherently faulty. After 6 months it's you that have to prove it - possibly by paying for a report to black up your claim. A bit much probably for shoes that cost less than 50 pounds. Try calling again in case you get a more friendly call handler - it might also be worth speaking to Converse directly as they may be more accomodating.0 -
Converse are so faked in this country im guessing they also want to be sure you haven't swapped them.
I've got a couple of pairs of fakes and genuine ones and believe me they are almost impossible to tell apart.0 -

Ah I didn't even consider that's why.
I'll try calling them again, failing that I'll have to go to the store - but thanks anyway0 -
As they were bought online can you not return them by post? Sounds like it would be a lot cheaper than travelling an hour to a store.0

I read that as being if Mimi wants to take them to a store it has to be one that has a Converse department, not that they must be returned to a store. In fact, the Debenhams returns policy confirms what I thought (at least, it does if "I ordered some Converse trainers from Debenhams" means an online order, it's not completely clear):
How can I return items? If you have purchased online you can return items in store, in the post via Royal Mail, through Parcelshops or via courier.
If you have purchased in store you can only return items back to store.

Funny you should mention this. I bought a pair of Converse at Office in Selfridges in London (so they were definitely genuine) in October. I can't wear them for work so have only worn them a few times at the weekend.
I wore them on my holiday in the rain and they leaked. When I looked at them properly, the sole had separated and there was a large split. As they were the only covered shoes I had with me, I had to buy another pair and because we were travelling around, I didn't want to carry them around for three weeks so I could return them when I got home, I reluctantly dumped them. Must have been a faulty batch because I have two other, older pairs that are still water tight."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
