Which bank account?

Hi
After a period as a stay at home mum, I have just started working again for my old firm. I will be self-employed as I need to invoice them.
I have been thinking about opening a new bank account to keep my work money separate from my husband's and my joint account and make seeing what I have earned easy when I need to do my self-assessment.
Do I just open a regular account from any bank or is there anything else I need to consider? I don't think I will earn over £5,000 per year, so it's just a regular personal account I need. I haven't changed banks since I left school...
Many thanks for any advice...

Your needs are quite simple, if you expect to be making a lot of cash deposits it may worth choosing a bank with a branch closest to your home. Out of the main ones they are quite similar in many ways. That said, if you wish to operate the account on line you may wish to look at a bank's website before opening an account. Although they all offer the same basic functions, a website that one person finds user friendly may be very cumbersome to the next person. Good luck with your business.

Thanks for the reply Bloomberg. I was assuming it would be a regular account but thought I would check just in case... Better to start out with the right account than have to change!
Now, on to deciding if I need a certificate of small earnings...0 -

Even if you do end up having or wanting to change the process is now much simpler.Money is a wise mans religion0
