Which washing machine

Hey people... I need to purchase a washing machine in the next couple of days.
Any suggestions? Is there much difference between 1000spin and 1400spin?
I'm looking at spending around 200ish.
I've seen a few Indesit machines I like? Are they any good?
Thanks in advance.

Indesit... look away from the dark.
To get anything decent for £200 is, at best, difficult IMO.

I don't know about £200 because we just spent a bit over double that on a Bosch Logixx machine, but I do think that you should get the fastest spin you can. Our new machine is 1400 rpm spin and the old replaced Blomberg machine was 1500. The difference in dryness of the spun clothes is quite noticeable and makes juggling the "weather window" to get clothes dry in a rain free period a little bit harder. I wanted the 1600 machine but they were out of stock everywhere, if they had been available I would quite happily spent the £80 extra.Joe

The cheapest Best Buy from Which? is the AEG-Electrolux L62810 at £306, scoring 68% coming second. Alternatively the Tricity Bendix AW1260 costs £258 and scored 62%, still a Best Buy... Most of the others are £500+0

I was lucky enough to buy a Bosch 3 years ago for £200 from Currys ( dreadful place ), reduced as it was ex-display.
Although I hate the big retailers, they can be good for such bargains, once you identify what you want.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

Good advice here, tells you who makes which brand and which are the better quality machines.0 -
We've just bought a Bosch for £259 from the co-op online - well worth it if you can stretch the extra £60-odd quid. Free delivery - within 48 hours in our case - and they'll take your old one away if you want to pay the extra £15 (we used the council as it was cheaper).
We started out at ukwhitegoods.co.uk, got a recommendation (either Bosch or Miele) and did loads of research online.
Hope that helps

Anything but Hoover. Don't buy Hoover. DON'T DO IT!
(I never pass up the chance to tell people how bad our Hoover was. Let's just say I got to know the repair guy very well in the first six months of owning it. Freecycled it and bought a Bosch.):beer:0
