SAR received what next

Hi, I have received the SAR paperwork I requested from Lloyds for my partner, They have sent bank account statements from August 2001 and credit card statements from January 2000, they say prior to this statements no longer exist although they did send a copy of the credit card agreement dated 6th April 1998 which is in both of our names. Looking at the credit card statements there is card holder protection plan payments taken out every month ranging from £13 to £34 is this the same as PPI? They have also sent me a screen shot of the loans he has had, but they say they are unable to provide copies of the original loan application documents due to amount of time that has elapsed. 1 was started in 02 1992 and finished 06 1998 so have no idea if PPI was added, the other was started in May 1998 & finished in May 2003, don't know if PPI was on this either.

Could anybody tell me if it is worth following any of this up?

It certainly seems like PPI (how much you paid each month depends on how much your balance was - typically 70p per £100 of debt).

You ask if it is worth following it up - depends, do you feel it was miss-sold and if so, why?

Loans you might as well forget unless you have copies which I assume you don't hence the SAR - you can't prove you paid it if you even did have it)

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I think I was mis sold PPI because when ever I took out a credt card, loan or bought anything on HP being self employed I always had to take out PPI, I also was never asked if I had any other insurances in place like income protection plan which I had.

You dont need to be asked about existing insurances unless it was an adviser sale (most were not advised sales).

The rest of what you say is an unprovable allegation. If correct, it is a mis-sale reason. However, it is amongst the weaker reasons in terms of getting a success as there is unlikely to be any evidence to support what you are saying. Self employment can be an issue where the PPI would not have paid out or had onerous terms. Although most PPI does cover the self employed fine. So, it is a reason that can work with some but not others.

Went ahead and claimed for PPI on 3 loans and 1 credit card.

2 of the 3 loans were upheld, received a cheque for £1900 and I have just received an email to say the credit card PPI was upheld and they are working out the redress.
After reading the response to my question I nearly never went ahead with the claim so glad I did now

The intention here was not for you to not proceed but just make you aware of the weakness in your complaint so you could strengthen it.

What we are never aware of here is the documentation level that exists at the bank. So, your reasons remain weak and self employment may not have been an issue but it may have been a failing in a completely unrelated area due to missing documentation or some other area you never mentioned.
