Go here and download Microsoft Antispyware its free and should remove any nasty popups and trojans from your computer.

As for a firewall ive heard zonealarm is good and they do a free version.
You can get that here.

You don't really need to have McAfee if you have AVG. Did you run all your security things with System Restore turned off?Torgwen..........

If you have Zone Alarm and AVG you don't need McAfee. In fact most AV products strongly warn against having more than one running. The firewalls might clash as well. I'm surprised Wanadoo recommended this without establishing what products you already had.0

I have recently got McAfee Firewall 2004 version which was free on the front cover of last months PC Adviser. It seems to work well the only thing I am concerned about is that it often tries to update itself by going to the website but all thatomes up is a blank screen with the McAfee logo at the top and then after a few seconds it says complete.
I've noticed that it updates itself by going onto the site using Mozilla Firefox rather than Internet Explorer even though both are installed on my machine. I don't remember telling it to use Mozilla Firefox as the default browser but I'm wondering if maybe McAfee Firewall 2004 version isn't compatible with Firefox. Does anyone know what should normally happen when a firewall tries to update itself and in particular is the McAfee version like this where you get a blank screen.
Many thanks in advance for anyones help on this.0 -
You have probably got Mozilla as your default browser which is why it's using it? If it says complete then I would assume that it has done the updates. If you are in any doubt, have you tried manually updating when you are using IE?1jacks64 wrote:I have recently got McAfee Firewall 2004 version which was free on the front cover of last months PC Adviser. There has been a lot written about Firefox on this site and it is very popular amongst Moneysavers.
You can download it HERE
To find out about other security issues, have a look at Computer Security - Free which is under FAQ's - a sticky at the top of this board. Also have a look at the threads "What security do you use?" and "How often do you back up" which are both at the top of the board too.Torgwen..........
