Wednesday 25 February - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

Morning Ziggy & Jojo
Oh what a pain Ziggy, I hate workmen messing you about. Does it put you out a lot?
Today for me
1. Off to business in a bit, will be doing more cleaning. Am meeting a tradesman there who is doing a service.
2. Have packed myself some lunch, and sons after school snacks.
3. Need to go shopping today for bits, fruit, bread, butter, sandwich fillers. Have written a list to keep me on track.
4. Checked both sets of banking, tenants rent has gone in which makes it look better reading, but i know we finished up £300 OD this month which is something I am not happy about and needs keping on top of.
5. Have tidied kitchen, and packed away any clothes that had dried over night.
6. all upstairs windows open, thats the only thing I find about having clothing drying about the house, it makes a musty smell.
7. Checked TCB & Music Magpie payments, nothing else has gone into bank yet but all pending
8. Dinner planned for tonight.
9. Sent son off into school with loads of stuff we'd saved up for junk modelling, hes making a castle this week. So now my cupboard is a lot emptier which is good.
10. Invoice funds not yet in my business account...keeping an eye on that as I need to pay out more money to cover the break in costs (emergency lock fitter £250)
Have a good day all.

First post here, just wanted to share one small triumph for a newby DFW like me. I was feeling a bit down yesterday so I went to work without my packed lunch. I went to the canteen to have the cheapest lunch I could get, a trusty dear old friend, jacket potato. When I was paying I realised I didn't have my debit card with me and started to panic a little bit, thinking if I have misplaced my card or was my card stolen. As soon as I got home late last night, I looked for it in my other coat, and voila it was there all along! Then the realisation hit me, I last used my card on Friday night, meaning I haven't spent any money for 4 days! Small triumph indeed, but for me it feels like I have climbed a big mountain. Here's hoping to make many more small triumphs like that to become completely debt-free.
Here's what I have done so far:
Woke up to find an email about a PayPal charge 0f £335.98 which I had no knowledge of. So called PayPal to report the fraud and changed my passwords.
Phoned our water supplier to see if changing to water meter would save us money. The answer is MAYBE NOT! It will cost me more based on the calculation.
Here's some of what I will be doing today:
Pay Halifax credit card £1000
Do a bit of spring cleaning and see what could be sold, donated to charity or thrown away. Update later.
Cook from scratch, using whatever is in the cupboard or fridge.
Return borrowed book from library before tomorrow's due date to avoid overdue fee.
Walk to the library instead of taking my car to save petrol and lose some unwanted calories.
Do some laundry, hang clothes outside to dry. It's sunny yayyy!
Night shift tonight so that means enhancement pay that will go towards paying off Halifax.

Hello Frugal Friends,
Not a very big list from me today, but have been keeping the money saving faith:
*Jumped out of bed at 6.30 & did the ironing while still on cheap overnight electricity tariff.
*Jacket potato night. Think Mr f is having rubber chicken stew on his, which means he can also have some of the veg in the fridge which needs using up. Think I'll have hummous & salad on mine, a v cheap night!
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Free fitness as spent nearly 3 hours outside in the sunshine digging over a big border. Can see that all my pink primroses badly need dividing, which means free plants to add colour elsewhere & to fill some spring containers.
*Postie brought another £10 voucher from doing online surveys, so updated my signature as I'm keeping a total of my 'survey income' this year.
*Started de-cluttering today's 25 items, starting with a pair of gardening gloves which only have one thumb......well THERE'S useful, I don't think!
*Do some surveys. Feel motivated cos of voucher.
*All free leisure inc knitting, watching a recorded TV prog, a bit more family history & reading library book.
Have a good day all.
