O/S Daily Wednesday 25th February 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, air still feels chilly though. Load ready to go in WM.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had baked plaice with jacket potato and veg. Tonight will be egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, hash browns etc – have a bits to use up – so this is a change from the menu plan – but don’t want to throw anything away.

Work yesterday was steady in the morning then busier then very quiet – the letters that should have gone out obviously haven’t as we’ve had not 1 visit or phone call regarding their contents – so that will come at some point soon – deep joy! I’m only working until lunchtime today then on days’ off, have quite a bit I want to get done, so will get myself into gear with that, I want to get the normal chores done when I get home this afternoon. It’s payday tomorrow – seems to have come round quite quickly this month – not that I’ve got more money left though!

Have a good Wednesday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

At last the stormy weather seems to have died out, all that blustery rain was a nightmare yesterday.

Just having my breakfast at my desk and then will get my head down. Got my 'final countdown' calendar up on the wall and it looks good.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning All

Weather the same as it has been for ages, cold wet and windy! Washing just finished so will put that on the airers.

Made 2 banana breads yesterday to use up some rather ripe bananas, they came out really well and DD was pleased. Had stir fry chicken last night which was good, not had that in ages but will have it more often as it is so quick and has loads of veg in.

Islandmaid, your kitchen looks fab, bet you can't wait to start cooking again.
Judi, sorry to hear of your DDs diagnosis, hope she gets all the help she can. I would speak to the care home, they maybe think you are on side with your DB and SIL.

Going to meet friends after work to have a late lunch/early tea, not seen them for ages so will be good to catch up. Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's dark and cold here this morning and my mood isn't much better I'm afraid. I've woken up to the news that our boiler is broken so I will need to try and get that sorted out today. I'm supposed to start my crochet for beginners class today as well but that will obviously depend on when the boiler can be fixed.

Worse news for me is that I saw my friend yesterday and mentioned to her that my eldest had a new boyfriend only for it to turn out that she knew him and he was very violent to his last girlfriend :eek::eek:. I feel so upset as I will have to tell my daughter and she is really happy with him at the moment. I didn't sleep at all well last night and when I did I dreamed about the situation and it didn't end well.
I don't want my daughter to be upset but I would be devastated if anything happened to her.

I haven't seen her yet this week as she has been out with him in all her spare time but she is coming over later to show me her new tattoo so I will try and talk to her then. I haven't told my hubby anything yet as there is no point to us both being stressed but I'm finding it hard not being able to talk to anyone so I'm writing it out on here. I don't want to over-react but I do tend to think the worst.

I can't think about anything else at the moment so I will love you and leave you. Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning all,

Wet here again and looks like its set in for the day, off to work for me it seems to have been a very long week !

Not sure what's for dinner will go and have a look in the freezer after this, I think there might be some pies in there.

Made a lovely lasagne at work yesterday it really looked tasty, I don't make it at home often as I find it time consuming and fiddly with all the different bits, but it has inspired me to make one soon as it really looked nice. I also made a mushroom and spinach one for the veggies.

Must do a wash tonight and have a quick tidy round.

    Have good days all xx

Morning all. It looks a better day here too. No wind, feels milder but the sky still looks miserable!

JUDI I hope you soon get better news about your DD. It's a worry.
CSARINA you sound really down. I hope you can soon get somewhere more manageable to live.

We had a very long and tiring day at St James yesterday. We were there early, to find the doctor running an hour and a half behind. It's the same every time we go. He explained again about Mr TA's scans, asked how he was keeping etc and seemed pleased he hadn't had any ill effects from the injection. After 6 injections he has to have more scans to see if they are helping to keep the tumours at the size they are now, or, better still, shrink them a bit. Meanwhile he keeps well and looks well and it's hard to believe it's now almost 2 years since his illness was discovered. The fortunate (if you can call it that) thing is that neuro-endocrine tumours are usually very slow growing and they hope the injections work and keep them in check for as long as possible.

Meanwhile we try not to dwell on what might be and try to carry on as normal. And so far the only thing that's changed in our lives is overseas holidays are out. That's a small price to pay though but I do miss Italy!

I have the hairdressers this morning thank goodness. My hair is so in need of cutting it's a disgrace. We have the 3 DGDs for tea and sleepover so their very favourite meal for tea - sausage and mash and don't forget the Yorkshire puds grandma!! If I do an enormous pan of spuds there will be enough left over to make a shepherds pie when they are back tomorrow tea time.

Gosh I have waffled on a bit this morning. Have a good day all and I hope the poorly ones soon feel better. We had sad news of a family death earlier in the week (only in his late 50's) and still awaiting news of the funeral. We were hoping it wouldn;t be next week when we are away. But now looks as though it will be. Take care all xx

    Morning All,
Been a bit c**p over the weekend. Awful cold, conjunctivitis as well. Had to call the Doctor on Monday, gone on my chest. Antibiotics now, feeling better.:T

Had fish cakes and baked beans last night, not sure what to have tonight.
(((((((((HUGS))))))))))) for those having a bad time.

Finally got some money today, I was getting paranoid! Got a bonus of £30 due to switching my electric/gas with the same supplier, via one of Martins' links.:T That was good.

    Have a great day
    I Believe in saving money!!!:T

  • Morning all, ((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

Dumpling, I really do not like the sound of that chap, I hope your Daughter is sensible and can extricate herself from the situation.

THank you for the good wishes, we will have to soldier on as usual until our bid come to the top of the list on a property that is suitable. In the meantime I am going to rest as much as possible. Today and tomorrow it will not be easy but I intend to spend the whole weekend reading on the settee. The usual routine cleans will be skipped a bit, but thats ok.

I have laundry out on the whirly, not sure if it will dry or not. We are off to the library for new books, I have to be back for 11am as DD2 is coming. OH is staying on to do some research and then visit the coin man on the market. We have a load of old coins, one of which is a silver crown. might be worth a bit.
