will they remove my default?

Hey guys,

I have just recently looked at my credit file for the first in in many moons, I have discovered a default for £147 from "studio".

I had no idea this existed, its from 2012 and it appears it be from an address I moved out of long time ago.

I have contacted them today and asked them about it, I said I would get back to them and paid £25 as a good will gesture until I look into it.

Is there anyway they would consider taking the default off? I'm in serious trouble if it has to stay on another 3 years!

Iv'e read other cases where if you offer to pay off the debt in full they will remove the default? Does this happen?

If thats the best way to go how would I do this? All via recorded mail or phone, are there any examples of this, to try and figure how to word it and get them to follow through after they have the money?

To be honest I'm going to pay the debt anyway, I completely forgot it existed as I moved almost immediately and did'nt forward my mail, so I had no letters to say what was happening.

Is there anyway to get rid of this default quicker than 3 more years?

Any help appreciated

Andy

Is the debt yours and if so is the default accurate. If the answer to both these questions is yes then why would they remove the default ? Is there a reason that you should be treated as a special case ?
  • I had no idea it was going to be defaulted as I never received the letters, I'm assuming the debts mine although I don't recall using studio but it has all my correct details, so it must be?

If I knew about it I would have dealt with it, for such a low amount I'm hoping they maybe understanding and accept I never knew about it as I didnt get the letters??

Might be a case of fraud new tenant run up the debt possibly.

Set up an account in your name?

First port of call would be to contact studio.

New tenants can sign up using your details but never pay. So it's not at all certain that it really is your debt. If they ever received payment from any bank account or credit card of yours that would tend to suggest it was you. You not remembering ever having used the place is pretty telling.
