Urgent Car Insurance Help Please

Hi
I have just bought a new car and need to insure it online tonight so that I can drive it into work in the morning. It is my second car, I already have an existing policy on a different car. I have 7 years no claims on existing policy and have help license for over 10 years. Can anyone help as I am not sure what the rules are in relation to a second policy.
Many thanks.

Most insurers will not accept NCD that is held on a policy that is still inforce elsewhere. Some may agree to 'mirror' the discount.
It might be best, if possible (using your other car?), to get to work by another method tomorrow and devote a portion of your weekend to searching for the best quote.0 -
can i not just start a new policy with no claims discount?0

Some insureres will give you whats cakled an "introductory" bonus, in other words they will match ure current no claims or will at least give you some.
Try the insurer that your first car is with they may do this for you or at least offer you a discount for having a second car with them.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
I know it probably all soounds very odd, but the long and short of it is, hubby only past his test last month but both need a car for work. He is named driver on my insurance for car 1, now been and bought car 2 and to start an insurance for him is massive at the momment and something we just cant afford, works out much cheaper for me to just start a new policy.
So just for clarification, when I am getting my quote do I just put in 0 when it asks how many years no claims discount I have?
Thanks guys0 -
Yes you do put '0' in the No Claims discount in your second policy..
Because i don't think you can use your No Claims entitlement on 2 policies..
If you are the policy holder and your partner has just passed, him being on your policy is going to be almost as expensive as if he went in his own name..
Also if he is going to be doing most of the driving on car 1 and you name yourself as the main driver the insurance company may hold it against you when you come to claim..
Maybe others can clarify!!!0 -
Can you put both cars on the same policy?
I had two cars on mine for a week - just so that I could drive someone else's for that time.
That might give you time to look for the best deal.
Must say, though, it cost me £43 for that week, so wasn't cheap.
Alternatively, how about 3rd party for one of them ?? Depends on the valueMortgage Free in Three - number 94
