It's amazing how people can make money on the internet.
A simple idea which is proving to be successful. Interesting reading.0 -
Oh! I've followed her earnings diary that she runs over at The Money Shed for months .
I'd love to give it a go myself, I just need some talent0 -
Simple ideas are often the best. They don't get much more simple (or cute) than animals singing happy birthday.Thinking critically since 1996....0

Our family pets are being rounded up for their fifteen minutes of fame as I type..0

She mentioned copyright of people's pictures etc., but how has she got round the fact that the Happy Birthday To You song is still in copyright until 2030 or so??

Thanks to a similar MSE email sent out over a year ago about this same MSE user I started my own YouTube videos..
It is hard work!
I now earn between £100-150 a month but its going up monthly!
I have improved over the last year my quality of video so its certainly a learning curve.
I accept I will not be rich from it but its a nice extra little sum at the end of each month!0 -
I do videos on my travels, so that restricts me as I can only make them when I'm on holiday! The videos I do are very basic, and I upload them and don't give them a second thought. I only earn £1-2 a month on them, but I'm getting closer to the £60 payout now!0

My Youtube videos make me £60 over 9 months, not a great deal but a nice unexpected bonus when the total reaches the payout level I set and it drops into the bank account.0

How do these actually make money? Like most people, I've got all the essential ad filters installed, so never see any adverts on Youtube specifically, or the internet in general, so how do they extract a pound of flesh?I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
There are some vloggers making hundreds of thousands a year from Youtube, plus that's then helped them sell merchandise and a couple have had best selling books too. It takes years to get to that kind of money though.gadgetmind wrote: »How do these actually make money? A lot don't have ad blockers. Plus I have seen comments from people stating they take the ad blocker off when watching the videos of their favourite Youtubers because they know ads get them money.
A lot have an ad running before the video starts, which I doubt ad blockers block because it's unlikely to be able to tell when the ad has ended and the actual video has started.
Sometimes Youtubers are also sponsored to promote brands/companies in their videos so they get paid for that too.0
