Tesco Bank - Every little helps - NOT!!

Options
I just wondered if anybody else has had an experience like this, or is it just me that these things seem to happen to?

So a couple of weeks ago I decided to open a current account with tesco for the 3% interest element. I applied online and was accepted. 3 days later I got a call from the underwriters saying that a letter had been sent out asking for ID to be sent in but I was to ignore it as they had identified me already as I also have a Tesco CC.

2 days later I got a text telling me my account was all set up. This was followed the day after by a pin for the debit card and a pin for setting up online banking.

Today I got the welcome pack etc and having already gone through this process setting up my Mothers account with them, I opted to log in and add my new current account through my already established internet banking ID for the credit card I have.

So I entered the details as requested and it said they needed to send me a one time access code via a text message. I got the text put the number in and instead of linking the 2 accounts together, I got a message saying;
We now need to get in touch with you, to make sure it is really you and that will take 10 days!

Now I had already logged in and gone through all the security to access my credit card account, entered the pin they sent to my mobile and they still think it might not have been me!!!!

I know you have to think about security of peoples accounts but come on tesco this is going too far...........

Rant over, now to ring them!

    Rang Tesco - Apparently I needed to register for online banking again, even though I already was via my CC, which even they said was a bit bizarre. That was why the pin for internet banking was sent out, which makes sense. Anyway they cancelled the pin number sent to me and resent a new via text message which I was to use to register for online banking. Then he said I could connect the 2 accounts together.

    So I registered again and bingo I can access online banking for my current account. I tried to connect the 2 together as he suggested but it will not let me, saying I have already asked them to do it and it will be done soon when I can access both accounts through 1 set of log in details.........

    I still think it is a bit of a performance and it might be better if they just linked all your accounts together from the start, like other banks do? Or is that too much to expect? Every little helps. lol!

    Did you use the same computer to set up your own and your Mother's Tesco account? Do you expect you can access your and your mother's Tesco accounts from the same computer? Do you have a joint account? Or do you have POA for your mother's accounts?
