Can anybody help me?
I need buildings and contents insurance but unfortunatley I have been flooded during the recent bad weather. Prior to this from end of May I paid off my mortgage and was told by my building society that they could no longer insure me because my insurance was attached to my mortgage. I thought I would be able to get some other insurance but a lot of the companies wouldn't insure me on my postcode which was strange because then I had never been flooded. Since the flood I have been unable to locate any insurance companies who do not have "Have you been flooded withing the last 5 years etc.

It's not much good now, but you should have left a nominal balance of £1 on the mortgage to keep the insurance policy running.
I'm not an expert, but i guess a broker would be your best bet.0 -
You should be able to get B&C cover but probably with flood either excluded or subject to a very large excess.
In time, a local broker who is aware of any improvements made to the local flood defences may be able to find you a better cover.0
