I used to use a salary sacrifice scheme with y employer for the full £243 a month and managed to accrue some vouchers in my voucher account.
I stopped my salary sacrifice 6 months ago and informed Tax Credits/HMRC. They adjusted my childcare element tax credit accordingly.
I have continued to use the remaining vouchers to pay for childcare.
Now, Concentrix (on behalf of HMRC) want every detail as they say they might be paying me the wrong amount. They want all receipts of payment as well as invoices etc etc.
Question 1: If I am still using the vouchers I paid for from my time with salary sacrifice, will they say I shouldn't be getting the childcare element?
Question 2: Do HMRC or anyone like that actually see my payments to my childminder (are the childcare voucher places government agencies?)...or can I say I pay my bills with cash?
I'm a part time employee, a single parent and I don't earn much. I dont get any payment from my child's father who decided to vanish abroad so I cant even use the Child Maintenance Agency/CSA.

I was told by someone else that I paid for the vouchers, a tax free benefit, fair and square when I bought them and when I choose to use them is of no consequence to the tax man.
This is so confusing.0 -
Oh, yes, didn't think of it like that.
No, the someone else is just a friend who seems to have lots of knowledge about these things - though apparently not on this occasion.
I have ADHD and have no clue about these things. When I rang HMRC several months ago and said I had stopped paying for childcare vouchers out of my wages, they never mentioned or asked anything about whether I have any unused vouchers and just accepted that I no longer was in the scheme and they adjusted my payment. I assumed that as I'd paid for the vouchers already, they were considered 'tender' for my childcare.0 -
So I wouldn't be given a large bill to repay immediately? I don't have spare money.0
