CIFAS Marker

Somebody applied for a savings account (to what end I don't know) using my details. I alerted Halifax about this and they immediately closed the account and have logged it with CIFAS leading to a CIFAS marker on my credit report.
My query is will this marker affect my ability to get credit? I've no intention to apply for any credit in the immediate future but I will be looking to remortgage about this time next year. Would it be worth requesting for Halifax to remove the marker in 9-10 months time so it has gone for when I'm remortgaging or are they unlikely to accept this request?

It shouldn't - the marker is there to protect you from it happening again. Which code is shown? It should be 0, if not take it up with Halifax directly.0

Should it not a 1 or a 2? Can't remember which one is victim of impersonation. 00 is a protective registration that you do yourself and costs around £20 per year. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

1 is False Identity Fraud - the "impersonator" so to speak. 2 is Victim of Impersonation.
OP, no responsible lender should use this against you in a negative way. Hell, if I'm investigating a case that has flagged due to CIFAS, and there is a Victim profile, it's fantastic. Gives me the legitimate customer's contact details so I know if I'm speaking to the right person.
You should be fine.
Edit; obviously by fantastic, I don't mean it's fantastic you got your ID hijacked!0 -

The mark is an 02 - Victim of impersonation.
Sounds like it is nothing to worry about then, thanks people.0
